(Jasmine's POV)
The weight of the evidence we now possessed hung heavy in the air, a constant reminder of the gravity of our mission. As Darren mobilized the team, issuing orders and coordinating our next move, I found myself drawn to Victoria, who had been roused from her slumber by the commotion.
"What's going on?" she asked, her voice laced with a mixture of fear and hope. "Have you found something?"
I exchanged a glance with Darren, silently seeking his counsel.
Should we tell her? Or would that put her at even greater risk?
Darren seemed to sense my hesitation, for he gave a slight shake of his head. "Not yet," he mouthed, his expression grave.
Turning back to Victoria, I forced a reassuring smile. "We're making progress, but it's still too early to share details. For your own safety, it's best if you remain in the dark for now."
Victoria's shoulders slumped, disappointment etched across her features. "But I deserve to know what's happening," she protested. "This is my life we're talking about."
She's right,She's the one who's suffered the most at the hands of the Windsors. She has a right to know.
Before I could respond, Darren stepped in, his voice gentle but firm. "Victoria, I know this is frustrating, but we're doing this to protect you. The less you know, the safer you'll be."
Victoria opened her mouth to argue, but Darren held up a hand, silencing her protests.
"Trust us," he implored. "We'll fill you in when the time is right, but for now, you need to stay out of harm's way."
A tense silence fell over the room, broken only by the frantic tapping of keyboards and the hushed murmurs of the team as they pored over the damning footage. Victoria's gaze flickered between Darren and me, her eyes shining with unshed tears.
Finally, she gave a reluctant nod. "Alright," she conceded. "I'll trust you. But promise me, no more secrets once this is over."
Darren's expression softened, and he reached out, giving Victoria's hand a gentle squeeze. "You have my word."
As Victoria retreated to the safety of her room, I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt.
We're keeping her in the dark, the very thing the Windsors have done to her for so long.
But even as doubt gnawed at me, I knew Darren was right. Victoria's safety had to be our top priority, no matter the cost.
With renewed determination, I turned my attention back to the task at hand. Darren had already begun coordinating with the local authorities, sharing the damning footage and laying the groundwork for a coordinated strike against the Windsor Corporation.
"We need to move fast," he barked into the phone, his voice laced with urgency. "These people are dangerous, and they'll stop at nothing to cover their tracks."
As the team sprang into action, mobilizing resources and assembling a strike force, I couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation.
We're going up against a formidable foe, one with power and influence that extends far beyond the confines of their estate.
