After I finished dinner, I went to take a shower, while Leah went on a walk with some of her teammates. As I finished putting on some clothes, I watch some TV with a big bowl of fruit. Around 5 minutes later, I hear my phone ringing. I look up and see my mums name on there, which is surprising, since I haven't contacted her in ages. But its always nice to catch up on her.
"Mum!" I exclaim. Unfortunately is was a voice call, so I couldnt really see her.
"Hey honey, how are you? How is volleyball?" She asks.
"Its great. I have another game tomorrow, so I am quite busy but overall I am okay." I say.
"Oh, I was gonna ask if you could come round tomorrow, just for a little family gathering or something. I understand if you are busy though." She says. It feels like I haven't seen my family for ages, but I also want them to know about Leah. I mean, I am pretty sure they would be gassed if they found out.
"Well my game is at 1 tomorrow, so I could come round after? Oh, and is it okay if I bring someone with me?" I ask. I really want her to say yes, just so that I can get an idea on how my relationship life is going, not just not my physical life.
"Yeah, thats fine. Come at around 3 tomorrow, your dad and brother is waiting." She says with a laugh.
"I will." I say. "Bye mum, I love you."
"I love you to sweetheart." She says, before hanging up. I throw my phone on the bedside table and just close my eyes, but for some reason, I could sleep. I was thinking about all sorts of stuff, from the game tomorrow, to my family, to Leah. But ultimately, I think the one thing that was bugging me was how my parents would react when they find out that my girlfriend is Leah. My brother Callum is a huge fan of her, and I don't want him to overreact in anyway possible. And I defiantly don't want her to think my family is weird.
As I am thinking about all these things, I finally hear the door open, and I see Leah walk through the door. She instantly smiles when she sees me.
"Hey." She says in a happy voice.
"Hiya." I say back, as she dumps her shoes by the door and sits by me, playing with my hands. The feeling on her skin on mine just lifts every strand of hair on my body right up. "Leah, I have a question, and you don't have to say yes." I say, and she looks up at me. "My mum called me today, asking if she wanted to spend the day after my game. So, I was wondering if you wanted to come with me?" I ask, and she moves closer to me.
"Really? I mean, yeah, of corse, I would love to! But I mean, it's about time if I see your parents right? Are you okay with it though? I don't want it to be like I barged through." She asks nervously, as I grab her hand.
"You have nothing to worry about Le. My brother is like a huge fan of you, and you will never barge through." I say. I am honestly surprised she agreed to this so quickly.
"I mean, if you say so. I would love to come Rookie." She says, making me sigh of relief. Oh yes.
"Actually, I wanted to tell you something too." She says. Oh no.
"What is it?" I ask, as she lies down next to me, with her body turned towards me, making me face her too, so we are just looking at each other dead in the eye.
"So, I actually have to go home today, so I wont be able to spend the night with you. Is that okay?" She asks.
"Yeah, I understand. You can come round at around 2 tomorrow, I will be waiting." I say with a smile. She looks at me with a straight face for a while, before noticing my smile and forcing it on her face. This instantly made me worry.
"Leah? Whats wrong?" I ask, and she looks at me.
"Rookie, you know I am proud to have you as my girlfriend, right? And you know how I will always be there for you, for the good times and the lows. Don't you?" She asks, making me really curious. Why is she telling me this? Is she gonna break up with me?
"Rookie?"
"Of corse I do." I say with confidence, acting like everything is okay, when I know what is gonna happen.
"And after I tell you this, I promise that I will always be with you, weather I am next to you or not. I will always be with you through here, okay?" She says, with a voice barley above a whisper, laying her right arm on my heart. Thats it. It's over. I can feel tears brimming my eyes, but I try and keep my composure.
"I know." I whisper.
"Im gonna be honest, Hayley. Whenever someone asks me who I want a future with, there is only really one person I wanna spend it with. And I was thinking about it as I went on the walk. Thats how I knew I wanted to tell you." She says, with her voice slightly shaking.
"Tell me what?" I ask with a whisper, with tears running down my face. She comes closer and strokes some of my hair behind my face.
"That.. I love you. I really love you Rookie. Oh, god it feels so good to say it. I love you Hayley." She lets out. The second she said those 3 words, it was like everything about me was on cloud nine. Normally, when someone tells me they love me, they just let it slide and act like everything strangers the next day. But with Leah, I could tell she was being honest. She was being sincere, and she really meant it. I find her hand that was on the bed, as I hold it and pull her in for a kiss. It feels like this was the kiss that was gonna mean a lot. Just by thinking of it, it already makes me really happy. As we finally pull back, she runs her fingers over my face and puts my chin between her index and thumb.
"Its okay if you don't feel like saying it back. I really do understand. But hopefully tomorrow will change that." She says, as we both wipe our tears. As she turns on her lamp and lies back down, I crawl over to her and gently press her lips against mine.
"I will tell you as soon as I am ready honey. I promise." I say, as she smiles, grabbing my neck and pulling me in for one more kiss before pulling back.
"Just remember, I love you Hayley, Okay?" She says, before I smile at her and then going to bed.
I actually cant fucking believe what just happened.
