As vacation day arrived Ben was nervous to meet her ex-husband. Miranda could sense his nerves.
"Why are you so nervous" She asked
"He sounds like a petty individual" Ben shook his head "I'm just worried that he will do his damndest to prove we are lying" He shrugged
"He won't get the chance because we are going to be a unit this whole trip" She smiled resting a comforting hand on his shoulder
"Right" He nodded "A unit"
As the plane took off and ascended into the sky, both Miranda and Ben felt a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. The journey ahead was uncertain, filled with potential pitfalls and awkward moments, but they were determined to see Miranda's plan through to the end.
As the flight continued, Ben couldn't shake the nervous feeling in the pit of his stomach. The thought of facing Tucker and playing the role of Miranda's supportive boyfriend was intimidating, especially knowing the history between Miranda and her ex-husband.
In a moment of instinctive comfort-seeking, she reached out and gently took Ben's hand in hers.Ben's heart skipped a beat at the unexpected contact, his eyes widening in surprise as he looked at Miranda. He could feel the warmth of her hand against his, a reassuring presence amidst the turbulence of their emotions.
"Are you okay, Ben?" Miranda asked, her voice soft and filled with concern. "You're shaking like a leaf."Ben blinked, momentarily taken aback by Miranda's observation. He hadn't even realized he was trembling until she pointed it out.
"Yeah, I'm okay," he replied, offering her a shaky smile. "Just a little nervous, I guess. This whole situation with Tucker... It's a lot to take in."
Miranda squeezed his hand gently, a gesture of solidarity and support. "I know, Ben. But remember, we're in this together. You don't have to face Tucker alone. I've got your back."Ben felt a wave of gratitude wash over him at Miranda's words. Despite the unconventional circumstances that had brought them together, he couldn't deny the genuine connection he felt with her in that moment.
"Thanks, Miranda," he smiled
"After all it's my fault you're in the mess. I will forever be grateful for you"
"My pleasure" He chuckled " Like I said I get a free all expense paid vacation."
"All expense paid?" Miranda smirked, giving him a playful side-eye. "Hold on there, Mr. Fake Boyfriend. Don't get too comfortable. As my 'boyfriend' for the week, you're going to have to buy some meals too, you know."
Ben laughed, raising an eyebrow in mock surprise. "Ah, the fine print! I should've known there'd be strings attached. Alright, you got yourself a deal. I'll treat you to a romantic dinner or two."
Miranda grinned "Oh, how generous of you! But seriously, Ben, I appreciate you playing along with this crazy plan of mine. And don't worry, I'll make sure it's worth your while."
Ben felt a heat rise in him hearing her say she should make it worth his while. His chest slightly tightened at the thought of that sentence meaning more than she intended it to. Blushing slightly at Miranda's words, he met her gaze and saw the sincerity in her eyes. "I have no doubt about that, Miranda. I know you'll make this trip worthwhile, and not just because of the meals," he replied, chuckling softly.
Miranda smiled warmly, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Good to know you have faith in me, Ben. I promise, we'll make the most of this trip, even if it's just to prove a point to Tucker."
Ben nodded, feeling grateful for Miranda's upbeat attitude and positive outlook. "Absolutely, Miranda. And who knows? Maybe we'll even have some fun along the way."
