Ivan sat anxiously beside me, his expression a mix of curiosity and concern, while Ivy looked on with questioning eyes. It was time to lay bare everything that had transpired—the cryptic messages, my confrontation with Adelaide, the visit to Kingston Law Firm, and the shocking discovery of my adoption papers.

Taking a deep breath, I began to recount the series of events that had led to this pivotal moment.

It all started with the mysterious messages. Each one seemed to hint at a hidden truth, a truth that I couldn't ignore. I received the first one weeks ago, a simple text from an unknown number. Initially, I dismissed it as a prank, but the subsequent messages grew increasingly unsettling, referencing a past affair and an undisclosed family history.

Unable to shake off the feeling of unease, I decided to confront Adelaide, the sender of these enigmatic messages. I arranged to meet her at a café downtown, my heart pounding with anticipation and apprehension. Adelaide was a striking woman, her demeanor guarded yet determined. She confirmed my suspicions—there was indeed a story of infidelity and concealed truths within our family's past.

Adelaide's revelations only fueled my determination to uncover the whole truth. That's when I decided to visit Kingston Law Firm, following a lead I had stumbled upon during my research. The firm held records that could shed light on my family's hidden history

Walking into Kingston Law Firm felt like stepping into a realm of secrets and whispers.

Finally I saw a file labeled "Evans Adoption Records." With trembling hands, I opened the file and saw it—the document that would change everything. My eyes scanned the pages, confirming what I had suspected but never dared to believe.

"I got my adoption papers that day at the firm," I explained, my voice steady but filled with emotion. "They stated that I, Sadie Evans, am your daughter, Ivy Evans, and that James and Elsie Williams adopted me."

Silence fell over the room as the weight of my words sank in. Ivy's eyes widened with shock, her hand reaching instinctively for Ivan's. Ruby's expression softened, a mix of understanding and compassion.

Ivy was the first to speak, her voice barely a whisper. "Sadie, why didn't you tell us sooner?"

Tears welled up in my eyes as I met Ivy's gaze. "I didn't know how to bring it up. But these messages, Adelaide's warnings—they pushed me to seek the truth. I needed to know."

"That... that means, you are my daughter Sadie?" Ivy questioned me, her eyes brimming with tears.

I met her gaze with a mix of apprehension and relief. "Yes," I replied softly, confirming the truth that had been hidden for so long.

Ivy's face transformed with a rush of emotion. Without hesitation, she enveloped me in a tight embrace, her warmth and the scent of her familiar perfume offering solace in the midst of uncertainty. The weight of unspoken truths and years of unacknowledged bonds seemed to dissolve in that heartfelt embrace.

"I'm sorry, Sadie," Ivy murmured against my shoulder, her voice thick with emotion. "I never wanted to keep this story from you all, But I guess I was too ashamed to tell anyone."

I held onto her, feeling a flood of conflicting emotions—understanding mingled with lingering questions and a deep-seated need for connection.

"It's okay, Mom," I whispered, using the term instinctively despite the newfound knowledge of my adoption. "We can work through this together."

Ivy pulled back slightly, her eyes searching mine for forgiveness and acceptance. "Thank you for being so understanding, sweetheart."

I nodded, feeling a surge of compassion for the woman who had raised me with love and devotion, unaware of the complexities that lay beneath the surface of our family narrative.
