Chapter 13- Sick

After 4 months...
"Charlieee, come here quick!" Babe yells in excitement. Charlie runs upstairs to their bedroom as he sees his boyfriend, and his children on the bed. Babe looks at him with a wide smile then turns back to Ayden whi has learnt how to sit up by himself, "Omg is he doing it by himself?" Charlie questions walking up to them. "Good job!" Babe grabs ayden in his arms as he softly tickles his belly making him jiggle, "Where is Amara?" Charlie adds looking around the room. "She is still sleeping. She reminds me of someone" Babe replies giving Charlie a side eye (referring to him) . "Oh." Charlie sits on the bed next to Babe as they get their son to try and sit up, Ayden just plops back down on his back then starts to cry. "Awww. That's okay, that's enough for today" Babe picks him up with a comforting voice as he rocks him in his arms. Then crying is heard from the other room, both parents turn to hear Amara crying. " I'll get her. " Charlie states before getting up, Soon after Charlie comes back in with their daughter in there arms, "I just changed her but I think she is hungry" Charlie mentions before going downstairs.
After the twins eat Babe lays them on the couch, covers them in a blanket then turns on the TV to a lullaby video that always makes them calm down. Babe sighs in relief as he notices them finally settle, Babe suddenly hugs Charlie from behind seeing him watch something. "What are you watching?" Babe comments trying to look over his shoulder, Charlie turns his head to his bf and then just pecks him on his cheek before putting his phone in this pocket. "Are you hungry?" Charlie asks turning his body to Babe, Babe shakes his head before going into the bathroom.
Charlie coughs in his arm as he walks to the living room, He continues coughing except it's getting more louder so he turns around and walks the other way not wanting to alarm the kids. As Babe walks out of the bathroom Charlie suddenly runs in,  "Charlie?" Babe frowns as he turns to see Charlie gag over the sink. "What's wrong?" Babe walks into the bathroom and stands behind Charlie patting his back, Charlie then lifts his head and looks at Babe before turning his head around and coughing out blood.  "Charlie!" Babe emotions suddenly turn to worried seeing his boyfriend cough blood, Babe suddenly pulls his phone out of his pocket and calls Way to come and look after the twins.
On the phone...
Way: What is it P'Babe?
Babe: Sorry I know it's sudden but can you come and look after the twins please.
Way: Of course.
Babe: Thank you way.
Way: No problem. Wait what happened anyway?
Babe looks at Charlie who is holding is stomach in pain,
Babe: Charlie is really sick. He was coughing blood...
Way: God. Okay I'll be there soon.
Babe: Okay thank you so much, Bye
Babe hangs up the phone then goes back to Charlie.
Babe holds Charlie who puts his weight on him as he growns looking terrible. "Charlie. What happened?!" Babe asks again waiting for a response, "I don't know. I was coughing one second then spitting out blood the next" Charlie sits on the chair at the kitchen bench while Babe does research while pouring a glass of water for him. "Here drink this " Babe hands Charlie the glass of water waiting for him to take it, Babe hears knocking at the door, " Come in" Babe yells from the kitchen being too distracted on his phone. "I'm here." Way looks at Charlie, " God Charlie you look like shit." Way let's his comments get the best out of him as he rolls his eyes. "Well no shit." Charlie growls back. As you can see Charlie and Way still aren't a fan of each other which leads to things like this...
"Anyway thank you way. We will be back" Babe adds before helping Charlie out of the front door.

At the hospital...

Babe and Charlie wait in the waiting room ready to be called because the Doctor Ms couldn't see the importance in the situation, Babe kept looking at Charlie who looks zoned out holding his head in his hands. " You can come in now. "The Doctor states before guiding them into the room, Babe helps Charlie on the bed while Babe sits on the Charlie. " What seems to be the problem?" The doctor asks putting on his gloves as he checks his heartbeat, " Well it's only the one thing, he as coughed out blood." Babe answers for him as he looks back at Charlie." Is there any pain?" The doctor asks Charlie as he starts typing things on his computer, Charlie rubs his hand on his stomach area then coughs again. "Right. I think I know what the issue is" The doctor says in a serious tone as he takes out the ultrasound. Babes heart drops as he thinks what it could be, "Uhmmm..." Babe lifts his head up seeing the doctor set the machine. The doctor looks at him confused before laughing, " Oh. Haha, No he is not pregnant I can reassure you that." The doctor states before laughing again. " Just what I assumed" the doctor whispers to himself, Babe turns to look at the scan. "What is that?" Charlie asks in confused tone, "An ulcer." Babe squints his eyes trying to picture what it is.
"This is what made u cough blood and what is causing your stomach pain." Charlie nods listening to the doctor, "These things can be formed either from bacteria or stress... In your case it's stress" The doctor looks at Charlie who is holding Babes hand. Let's lose  his grip and let's go of Babes  hand after hearing this, "Stress?" Babe questions concerned. The doctor nods before looking at his computer again, "I will prescript to a medicine that with slowly get rid of it. But that will have low affects on it, so I suggest try not making yourself stressed and lay off things that cause you it" The doctor adds before handing Charlie the medicine. Charlie gets up before thanking him, then they leave.

The car ride it silent till Babe breaks the uncomfortable silence...
Babe: Why didnt you tell me.
Charlie: Tell you what Phi?
Babe looks at Charlie pissed.
Babe: Don't act dumb. You know what
Charlie: I didn't even know. I wasn't even stressed
Babe: Why are you lying to me?
Charlie: I'm sorry. I just don't want you to get worried
Babe: Charlie. I've told you this before, You have to tell me these things okay...You help me so I need to follow that. I can't help you if you don't tell me.
Charlies eyes get teary then quickly wipes them.
Charlie: Fine but promise you won't overreact?
Babe nods before going silent...
Charlie: One of my clients that I was working for started mentioning things about our family even the team. Stuff that is personal to us
Babe: Well stuff gets spread around Charlie.
Charlie : They even knew a children's names!
Babe eyes widen again hearing this before responding,
"What the fuck.. How?" Babe asks getting angry, "I asked him that but he just smiled and didn't say anything" Charlie replies. "Is that all?" Babe asks curiosity, Charlie nods... "He said some things about our relationship and threatened to hurt us and the twins if I ever reported him." Charlie finally catches his breath before relaxing. "That bastard. I'm gonna kill him" Babe states before zoning out, Charlie sits up noticing Babes serious tone. " P'Babe you said you wouldn't overreact" Charlie shakes Babes arms trying to get him to say something, " That was before I knew what this dog has been doing" Babe answers as he grips his hands to the steering wheel. Charlie sits back again with a sense of peace, "Baby. What are you gonna do?" Charlie asks feelings helpless. Babe turns and smiles at Charlie, "You don't need to worry." Babe replies looking back at the road. Charlie just trusts Babe as he feels exhausted and can't be bothered debating with him.

After they get home Charlie thanks Way for looking after the babies then takes him to the door as he leaves. After Charlie comes back from downstairs he notices Babe glued to his laptop which he barely uses anymore, also wearing his glasses. " Babe?" Charlie looks at him confused never seeing him this distracted, " Sorry Charlie I just need to take care of this one thing then I will come upstairs" Babe comments. Charlie walks up to him from behind wrapping his arms around his waist, "Is something wrong?" asks Babe looking over his shoulder. Charlie shakes his head as he hides his face in the crook of Babes neck, "Thank you Phi..." Charlie whispers in his ear.
