Last Minute Studying

"Poland revolution of 1830, also known as November Uprising..." You spoke quietly as to not disrupt anyone who was in the school library studying as well. You were studying some important revolutions that your history teacher made the class remember for a quiz. Was the Poland revolution going to be on it? No.

In all honesty, you didn't really want to take history. Let alone an advanced class of European history. You should have backed out of the class once you heard the history teacher, Mrs B, ramble about this one guy she has a cardboard cut out of. Something about... what was it? Everybody is endowed with natural rights to life, liberty, and property. Oh! John Lo-

Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard the library door slam open. Immediately, you heard a 'shh' coming from the librarian. You tilted your head to the noise and saw a distressed Alex speed walk you way. Without warning, he threw himself onto you and started to shake your shoulders.

"Listen, you have to help me!" His grip around you started to tighten and you tried to make him calm down. "You have to help me!"

"Shhhh!" The librarian motioned towards him.

Just as Alex was about to continue with his wails, you slapped your hand over his mouth. "Shut up will you?" You whispered harshly. You pulled a chair to him and made him sit down. I should drop out of high school.

You kept your hand on his mouth until he seemed more relax and won't have a random outburst. He took a couple deep breaths before speaking quietly, "I need help-"

"Yeah, I understood that part."

"Quiet," he interrupted you, "...I need help with chemistry. I don't get what I'm supposed to be learning." He looked down as he spoke, almost embarrassed to be asking you for help.

You stared at him for a good second, "So you ran across campus to find me? Something tells me you have a test coming up."

"...I do," he didn't know if he should continue with his explanation. He gulped before speaking, "It's tomorrow."

"..."

"..."

"Are you fucking dumb!?" You spoke quite loudly, forgetting you were in a library.

"Shh!"

"Are you fucking dumb!?" You spoke in a whisper as you leaned into him so he could hear you.

"Well- yes!" He leaned in as well, "You should know that by now, considering that I am asking for help a day before the test!"

He has a point. You rubbed your eyes to wipe away any tiredness from the day and put all the history papers in your folder. You snatched one paper from his hands as he took it so he can read it. "You can't read these papers."

He forced a frown, "Why not?"

You put your folder in your bag and took out your chemistry folder, "You brain might explode."

He deadpanned at you and gave a small side eye. It looked like he was going to say something back, but decided against it so he can learn four weeks worth of material in a couple of hours. He took out his Chem work from his bag and placed it on the table.

You clicked your pen open, "Okay, so what do you understand?"

"Nothing." Lord give me strength.

You closed your eyes and pinched the bridge of your nose. "Wrong question, can you show me papers of what you guys are learning?"

Without a word, he passed a couple of papers to you and looked at the contents. Balancing equations and mole conversions. Not too bad. "It's...kinda easy Alex. What are you doing in class for you to not understand this?"
