Vámonos a Marte
✰
The sound of crickets could be heard throughout the empty parking lot of a stargazing site. The only thing that was in the center of the parking spaces was just one car with two people. The couple were just there, looking at the stars for a date and just listening to soft music as they talk and joked around. The night was dark, yet it was perfect to see the stars, the moon, constellations, and the shooting stars.
Speaking about shooting stars, you were talking Alex's ear off when he interrupted you, "Look! Sorry, there was a shooting star! Did you see it?!" He asked quite loudly. It made you happy to see how happy and excited he was.
You shook your head and closed your eyes, "I didn't see it, well I saw it from the corner of my eye."
He gave you a small side eye, "Let's look at the sky again. I want you to make a wish the next time we see one."
And so you two looked at the sky for minutes, siting in your proper seat in the car. The sound of faint breathing coming from him relaxed you knowing you were safe and well loved from him. Your eyes steered away from the sky and found a new place to look at. Him.
"You know, sometimes I wish you and I could live on the moon. Imagine how peaceful and quiet- hey, keep your eyes on the sky," he caught you staring and moved your head upwards to face the dark sky. "We have yet to see another shooting star."
"Sorry, I just can't help but look at you," you said as you moved your head slightly to the side, only for him to move it back so it could face the sky again.
He shook his head and said nothing else. He wasn't mad or upset. In fact, he was happy he could be someone you could stare at for a while.
Not so much time passed when finally, a shooting star glided across the sky. Alex looked at you and shook your shoulder slightly, "Make a wish!"
You chucked and closed your eyes to make it look like your were wishing for something, but you didn't have anything to wish for really. You already got what you wanted.
"So, what did you wish for?" He asked as he took your hand into his.
You shook you head and formed your lips into a thin line, "Can't say or else it won't happen."
"Fair," he shrugged his shoulders, "But I really wanna know."
"Do you?" He shook his head at your question. You thought about it, "I'll tell you before we sleep; back at home."
"Rude," he mumbled.
Of course, you heard it and have him a warning look that had no actual harm behind it. You shifted in your seat and continued to stare at the night sky. It was a calm scene, soft music playing from the speakers of his car and the occasional chirp from the crickets. He kept a hold of your hand and squeezed it gently from time to time. A new song played on the radio. He noticed that the title wasn't in English.
"Hey, can you read that?" He pointed slightly to the name of the song on the screen.
You saw the name of the song and let out a surprised gasp, "Oh, I love this song! It's called 'Let's go to Mars.'"
He nodded his head, "I'm guessing the song is in Spanish. Could you... translate it for me?" He asked as the quiet strums of the guitar could be heard from the radio.
"...yeah, just don't expect me to be good at singing." You shifted yourself on you seat so you could face him and waited patiently for the singer to sing. You heard the lyrics start and translated them into English. It wasn't hard at all since you already knew the words, line by line.
"From the sky, everything is more beautiful," your voice slightly covered the singers voice but you tried your best not to do so. Alex just stared at you as you did the translating, he was curious as to what the rest of the song would be like.
"Let me take you to the stars again," you tried your best to not laugh out of nervousness. "Like last night."
During the little guitar break, you whispered so the moment would stay sweet, "I swear it sounds better in Spanish." Even as you translated the lovely song, it didn't sound the same in English.
He chuckled at your words and assured you that it sounds just as amazing as the original. You covered your face with one hand to hide your embarrassment as you started to 'sing' again, "Let's go to Mars where no one will look for you, neither you, nor me."
"Where everything is more quieter and lonely for us both. Where there is no one else, but you an I." Honestly, at this point, you meant what the lyrics said. It was like what Alex said, he wanted to live alone with you on the moon so no one could bother the both of you.
He listened carefully to the second verse and made sure to hold eye contact with you. To him, it felt like you were confessing your love to him all over again. Somewhere in between singing, he clasped his hands over the both of yours. He was fascinated, even more in love with you now that you could speak you love to him in more than one way.
He moved his hands to your cheeks. A little flustered from the action, you leaned back slightly and started to mumble the translation. When you looked into his eyes, you could see a grand sense of admiration so much so that there were hearts in his eyes.
He leaned over his seat and neared his face close to yours. Just as you were whispering the ending chorus, you were interrupted with his lips pressed onto yours. It was a sweet kiss. Nothing too extreme. After sometime, he slowly pulled back and still looked at you the same. He smiled after just a couple more seconds of admiring you, "Thank you."
You didn't know why he was thanking you, but you just went with it. You cleared your throat to calm your nerves, "You're welcome...?" After the last strum of the guitar from the song filled his radio, another song came on. "I meant everything the song said," You told him once you found the words.
He moved his hands from your face and to your hands. "I have a feeling you did. And I meant everything I said before the song. If anything, the song just made me wish it was true and possible that only us could live in another planet."
You turned your attention to the navy sky in front of you. He did the same. The moon that hung in the center of the sky illuminated every dark corner of the world. Just staring at the stars was an amazing sight. Another shooting star flew across the sky. Now both of you knew just what to wish for. To think that out there, there is a planet just like Earth and that maybe the two could live in peace. For sure would be a dream come true.
