All I Want
✰
It was an odd day for Alex to say the least. He woke up to find zero notifications in his phone. None from you, at least. He grew a little concerned, but shrugged it off and just thought that you were sleeping in because you felt like it or you went out with with your friends. As the hours went by, his concern grew tremendously.
Obviously, he knew you were probably busy with university work, but he couldn't help but think if something was wrong. If something was wrong, you would have told him. Right?
The worst came to his mind when he thought what could have been wrong. What if you lost your phone? What if you got lost? What if something happened to you? What if... No, he didn't want to like that. You wouldn't do that, surely. You were fine, everything was fine.
He couldn't help but look at his phone in anticipation. What if he just... messaged you.
Are you still alive?
The irony. He watched the minutes go by and yet nothing appeared. Not even the notification to say you've seen the message. Maybe you were upset with him. Maybe he did something wrong... yeah.
I'm sorry if I did something that made you upset. Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?
No, he couldn't have done something wrong. The last time they talked over the phone and in person was lovely. He recalled every conversation he had with her and yet nothing odd came to mind.
Minutes turned into hours. He couldn't wait anymore. With shaking hands, he grabbed his phone and headed to contacts. He found yours at the very top; marked with a star so he can always get to your number quickly without a hassle. He called and waited.
The sound of the line dailing your phone was the only thing that could be heard in his room. He bit the inside of his cheek and heard the robots voice in your place.
"Your call has been forwarded to-"
"Shut up," he turned off his phone and quiet harshly threw it on his desk. He became agitated and started bouncing his leg up and down. Why didn't you answer him? You always answer at the first ring.

He distracted himself throughout the day, yet there wasn't much to do. He got fairly bored of whatever was on TV and his house was already pretty clean. Of course, he sent many more messages to your number which none were answered back. He went for a walk which included some smoke breaks and when he came back home, he found himself bored again. The sun was now setting and the small sliver of the silver moon started to rise.
Anxiously, he called your phone again. One ring, two rings, three rings, four. Just how many rings were there? He lost count and realized that after every failed attempt to reach you, he called again. Eight times he called, yet none were answered. Two more times and on the tenth try he decided to leave a voice message.
"Hey, can you call me back, or even just message me something to know you're fine," the shaking of his voice was very apparent. "Please? I really miss you and I just want to know you're okay...I'm really worried about you."
He decided to end it there before he could no longer find the strength to talk. It was hard for him to breathe and swallow his saliva as his throat was closing up in anxiety. His only wish was for you to be okay.

10:47 P.M.
He dimmed the lights in his room and opened his window to let the fresh air in just for a couple minutes before he was ready to sleep. The cool breeze gently waved through the curtain and brushed through his hair. He leaned against the window sill and look at the night sky. A cresent moon was hung high in the sky. Pretty soon there will be a new moon. He heard the laughs of people, the engines of the cars, and the sound of police and ambulance sirens. Such a sad thought to know someone out there lost their life.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a ring from his phone. His heart sped up and quickly snatched his phone from his desk. He accepted the call without looking at the contact, but before he could speak your name, a stressed voice spoke out. It wasn't your voice.
"Alex," it was your mother. Her voice wasn't hiding the fact that she was crying. "S-she's gone."
His heart dropped and a cold sweat ran down his face. "What? Gone? How?"
Your mother was now sobbing on the other side of the line and started mumbling nonsense. "My daughter! She's gone!-Gone! I'm so sorry! She loved you Alex, she really did!"
"What happened?" His voice became distressed and wasn't prepared for anything that would be said.
"She took her life, I'm sorry," her crying became louder and the voice of someone else could be heard to comfort her.
He felt his heart drop to his feet and couldn't believe it. He didn't want to believe it. From the phone, he heard continuous cries and non coherent mumbles. He stayed still, listening to the world around him. He heard his name being called from the phone, yet he couldn't answer. He hung up.
His head started to spin and gripped the edge of the window firmly. Reality soon struck him and tears swelled in his eyes. His shoulders were racked with sobs as his tears flowed out of his eyes and onto his cheeks. He didn't want to believe that you were gone now, forever. He loved you too much to not be affected by it.
You did so much in his life. He changed the way he saw love thanks to you. You brought out the very best parts of him and helped him find the best source of happiness in his life. Unfortunately, it seems like his happiness has to be taken away from him tonight.
He didn't understand. You loved him so much, yet why would you do it? Why did you leave him? He wish he was with you that night; things would be different. Now, he has to go to sleep alone, bed filled with his tears of grief. A ghost of your frame would stay in his bed forever. No one to say goodnight too.
He wish he called that night.
