Wren sat on the grass listening to Stefan and Damon discuss the plan. She was pretty much fazed out at this point, they had been talking for around five minutes. She vaguely heard their conversation but had stopped to listen at points to get an idea of the plan.

"How do we know she will help us?" Damon posed a question to his brother, who merely shrugged in response. Damon lowered himself to eye level with the young girl before him, her focus shifted abruptly from her daydreams to the present, where Stefan appeared to be asking her something.

She looked up toward Stefan making eye contact. "What?" She asked completely unaware of the question that had been asked of her.

"What's your name?" He repeated. Empathy spread over his features as he looked back at Damon with concern in his eyes.

"I'm Wren," With a shy smile gracing her lips, she accepted Stefan's outstretched hand. There was a moment of hesitation before she allowed him to gently pull her to her feet. She studied his features looking for a familiar sense of cruelty that was normally shown to her. When she found nothing but kindness her guard lowered just a little still weary of the almost strangers In front of her.

"So, do you remember the plan?" Stefan quizzed his brother who looked confused for a moment.

"Yes, you take the upstairs and I'll handle downstairs. We'll distract them, take them out, and rescue Elena. Once that's done, we can celebrate a job well done," he said, a smile spreading across his face.

Damon stood outside the house waiting for Stefan's cue. When it arrived he wasted no time and handed Wren an axe, she took it reluctantly. She then looked up to find him offering her his hand to hold before he vamp sped inside the house. Wren took a second to take in the new unfamiliar surroundings. She could see the ruins of the house and what it could've been had it been maintained instead of abandoned. She was snapped from her thoughts when she heard Stefan.

"Up here." He shouted downstairs, Wren watched as the clueless man dressed in a suit looked around. She had to stop herself from giggling as Damon spoke up.

"Down here," Damon said before smirking at Wren and waiting for the older vampire to approach. He spoke up in a threatening voice.

"Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" He stood still waiting for a response before he moved towards a coat hanger snapping it in two into a makeshift stake. Wren's smile quickly dropped as she realized the risks had just doubled. "I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girl, I'm gonna count to three, or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?".

Almost instinctively, she raised her hand and the coat hanger burst into flames burning the older vampire. He looked around for her. Her thoughts raced through her mind as her heartbeat increased rapidly and was thumping in her chest like a drum. If she could hear her heartbeat then so could the older man. She tried to keep to the shadows hoping not to be caught. Just as she heard footsteps treading towards her a voice spoke up.

"I'll come with you, just please don't my friends, they just wanted to help me out." The voice pleaded as a girl with straight brunette locks wearing a pink long-sleeve top and a pair of navy blue jeans. It was safe to say she was really pretty.

The man's face contorted to one of anger as his brown eyes scanned the room still looking for the young witch. "What game are you playing with me?" he questions eyes almost ablaze with fury.

The girl suddenly throws a vervain bomb in his face. It explodes. His skin started to burn but he healed almost immediately. He goes toward the girl but Stefan arrives and shoots him with the compressed air weapon. It doesn't phase him so Stefan throws the weapon aside, and rushes at the older vampire, and tackles him. They fall down the stairs. The man got up immediately but Stefan stayed on the floor. He starts toward Stefan but Damon appears and stakes him. Damon pushes him against the door. Wren watched in horror as the man in the suit started to desiccate pinned to the door with the stake.

A woman with short brown hair who was also there had a look of shock and complete terror as she watched the events that had just unfolded and left. Damon attempted to follow her, but Wren grabbed his arm and hugged him unexpectedly. Caught off guard by this display of affection, Damon hesitantly returned the hug.

The dive back to the Salvatore boarding house was long and dreary. The lack of conversation stuck out to Wren like a sore thumb. she only received a look from the brunette girl every few minutes she was sitting next to her in the back seat of Damon's car. Wren overwhelmed by the day's events began to try and get some much-needed rest. She lay her head against the gap between the headrest and the interior wall of the car and shut her eyes. Almost immediately she fell asleep.

Elena was the first to speak up. "Who is she?" She asked the brothers. Who exchanged a look almost as if debating if telling her they got sidetracked from rescuing her was the best idea.

"She's someone who needed our help." Stefan eventually responded making eye contact with Elena through the rearview mirror. Elena shot back a sympathetic look toward Stefan. She shifted her focus to the girl asleep beside her.

Wren's hair was almost perfectly positioned with no effort at all. Most of the bruising on her face had healed and all that remained were traces of the abuse she had faced for years. Elena's allowed her eyes to travel over the witch's body observing every part of her exposed skin. Her eyes traced the faint scars that lined both her arms. Stefan had caught her staring at Wren and decided to speak up.

"We found her," He spoke truthfully. "The car broke down and we heard screams, followed by a strong force that blew us into the side of the car." Elena and Stefan exchanged a look of worry as Stefan continued. "When we got to a cabin in the middle of the woods a door blew open along with a dead man behind it. And then she collapsed." He frowned realising how sad the girl's story was and that was only today. His thoughts darted back and forth from the road back to his train of thought. He remembered how the inside of the cabin had looked; a whole rack full of torturous equipment with knives scattered over the table each covered in blood.

Eventually, they arrived at the Salvatore boarding house. Damon got out first, he went round to the side of the car where Wren was still in her seat asleep. He took off her seatbelt and lifted her, she flinched slightly before relaxing into his touch and she allowed him to carry her into the house bridal style before entering one of the empty bedrooms and setting her down, still fast asleep.

A/N: Hey guys, hope you are enjoying the story so far. I know that a lot of you are thinking how come Wren just trusted Damon and Stefan so fast, That is part of her character. She won't however be so trusting to those who have wronged her before.

I would be so grateful for any votes or comments and again thank you for reading.
