TW: Slight mentions of self-harm
Wren was dead. The cold, harsh reality of her lifeless body weighed heavily on the hearts of those who knew and loved her. It was a stark, unchangeable truth that echoed through the desolate silence of the night. There was nothing anyone could do to reverse the cruel hand of fate that had snatched her away.
Not Emery, with her gentle heart and hopeful spirit, who had believed the miracle that her best friend would come back. Not Klaus, the powerful and fearsome hybrid, whose very essence seemed to radiate invincibility but was now reduced to a state of helpless sorrow. Not Stefan, the brooding vampire with a tortured soul, who had seen too much death and loss in his long existence. Not Rebekah, whose fierce loyalty and strength were legendary, but who now found herself powerless in the face of this loss. Even though the original didn't know Wren that well, she saw her brother's face and knew that he cared about her.
No one could bring Wren back. Her death was a saddening fact, a cruel twist of fate that left a gaping void in their lives, one that would haunt them for eternity.
The group were still gathered around the Parker girl's body, grief heavy in their hearts. Emery had tears running down her face, she really had loved the werewitch despite not knowing her for that long. The heretic felt like she had been hit by a train as all the grief came crashing down on her at once.
The bar was quiet, all except for the sounds of sobs echoing through the room. Rebekah was behind the bar fixing herself and Emery a drink, they both sat to drink as they held each other in grief.
The silence was disrupted suddenly by the sound of glass smashing along with an echoing cry that would cause sympathy to echo in the bones of anyone who heard it. It was the sound of raw heartache and anguish. It was the sound of Klaus Mikaelson, as much as he did not care to admit it, he had grown to care for the girl.
Through the noise, not one of them heard the faint heartbeat or the raspy breaths that left Wren's mouth. Her eyes opened as they shone a brilliant blue, it pierced through the light that streamed into her eyes. The group watched as the lights began to spark and the wind picked up. Bolts of electric blue began to dart across the room, all coming from the werewitch's hands.
"Ugh, that fucking bitch!" She yelled as she stood up. Wren heard their heads turn so fast she was convinced that some of them might have snapped their necks. "Oh, a death spell, nice try Gloria." The werewitch stood over the dead witch's body almost taunting her. "Incendia,"
Klaus wiped his eyes, quickly standing up, coming face to face with her. "Hello, little hybrid." His voice was soft but had a slight rasp.
The pull between them was magnetic, an irresistible pull that defied logic and reason. From the moment their paths crossed, there was an undeniable connection, a spark that neither could ignore. It was a force that drew them together.
Wren pulled her arms around the hybrid, who stiffened at the action but relaxed into her touch. She brought her hand up to the side of his face, wiping the remaining tears from his cheeks. Klaus had dropped his guard, let the facade slip away and at that moment he let Wren Parker in, as she did for him.
"I'm okay, I promise." She dropped her arms from his torso and turned toward the rest of the group. "Looks like I can't die then." A small smirk crawled onto her face as her eyes burned a low gold, like an ember remaining in the dark ashes.
Emery ran to her side forcing the werewitch into a hug, to which she only returned the action. The heretic had missed her best friend for the time she was gone. She was certain not to let it happen again, it was like a part of her was missing, she really had grown to love the woman in front of her.
