Inside the room were a group of teen and young adult heroes. I knew who they all were instantly. But I let Dick lead me to all of them and introduce them one by one. It wasn't needed though, I knew who they all were as soon as I laid my eyes on them. I already was introduced to most of them. The older Titans were just visiting and hanging out after helping the new Teen Titans on a mission. That's why everyone was gathered. I just happened to be here at the perfect time.
"This is Karen, she's Bumblebee." Dick points at the girl with two afro puffs. I wave and she waves back. "You know Donna, and Roy. This is Garfeild, the one you thought had green paint on his skin."
"Sorry about that by the way." I said sheepishly.
"It's all good. Not the first time." He gave me two thumbs up.
"Over here is, Vic, we call him Cyborg." Dick says. I run up and shake Cyborg's hand aggressively.
"Big fan!" I beam.
"Thanks." He chuckles.
Dick places his hand on my shoulder and turns me back towards everyone else. Probably to prevent me from ripping Vic's arm off. "Moving on. Raven and Wally, you know them already." I nod. "This little guy over here is Damian."
Damian eyes me suspiciously and crosses his arms around his chest. My chest started bubbling from excitement. I love this little gremlin.
"He's my favorite Robin, you know. Next to Steph." I murmur quietly to Dick.
"Ouch." Dick places a hand over his heart. "I'm right here."
"You're cool too." In reality Dick was my number one favorite character ever. But he didn't need to know that. Might boost his ego. "No aqua lad in this team?
"He's busy, on a mission with the League." Donna says. So freaking cool.
"Starfire?" I ask.
"Off world." Roy adds.
"Aw man, she's one of my favorites." I pout.
"This isn't a meet and greet." Damian scoffs. "We're here to scope you out and make sure you're not a threat. You know too much. If it was up to me we would've just thrown you in a cell and let you stay there."
He's so adorable when he's trying to be intimidating. "My fault Robin." I bite my lip to fight back my grin. This is like a dream come true for me. Meeting all my favorite heroes, in one place. I wish I had my phone on me so I could take pictures.
"So, what's the plan?" Wally asks. The group all turn and look at Dick for the answer. I guess even after retiring from being a Titan he never retired from being a leader.
"Bruce is working with some people to manipulate the portal devices we already have to enter Angela's world. But it's difficult. Her dimension is... far I guess you could say. It's why we've never been there and why no one from her world has ever been here. It's practically impossible for us to open the gate. For now, she's staying here. And then once the portal is almost complete we're transporting her to Gotham." Dick's voice is the well worn one of a man who knows how to take charge. It's pretty cool to hear it in real life. Everyone seems content with that answer, well everyone but Damian.
"Who says she can stay here? I only said she could spend the night. I don't want someone dangerous staying with me or my team." He glared at Dick and uncrossed his arms.
"Where could she possibly go Dami?" Dick sighed, exasperated.
"I don't know! I just don't like you waltzing in here and trying to take control! This is my team, remember? Not yours anymore." The two of them then had a stare off. Damian's glare was so fierce it made me backup a little. Dick's face was hardened though. He didn't show any emotion, he just stared at his little brother.
"I vote she stays." Karen spoke up, interrupting the two boys' little stare off. "This isn't a dictatorship, Damian. I trust her, and she has nowhere else to go. So I vote she stays here. With us."
"I second that vote." Beast Boy shoots his arm up in the air.
"Third." Raven says softly.
"Fine. Do whatever you want." Damian grunts. "But if she missteps even a little bit, she's out of here."
"You won't even know I'm here." I raise my arms up in surrender. All at once everyone gets a loud notification alarm.
"No way." Garfield laughs.
"What happened?" I ask. I try to peek at Dick's phone but he curses and pockets it.
"It seems, you're not the only thing from a different dimension that is falling into our world. Another person just fell from the sky." Dick sounded worried.
"So, what does this mean?" I ask.
"It means you opened up a portal. Somehow. And now because of you, your world is leaking into ours. And probably vice versa." Damian's voice was sharp. I flinched at the accusatory words.
"How is it my fault that I fell here? I didn't want to be transported into a comic book! I just wanted to read."
"Well look at what your reading caused." He bit back. I could feel my eyes start to well with tears.
"Damian. Be quiet. You know it isn't her fault. It's no one's fault." Karen says.
"A portal doesn't just open up on its own." He retorts.
Dick sighs heavily, "Instead of bitching to someone who didn't do anything wrong, why don't we go out there and investigate the portal?" He posed it like a question, but it was more of an order. And everyone knew it. Everyone went to get geared up, including Damian. Leaving me and Dick in the living room.
I faced him and found him already looking at me. "What should I do? Should I come with?"
"No Angela." He smiles softly at me. "You stay here, make yourself at home. We'll be back later with more information. Just hang tight, okay?"
"Sure, okay. No problem." I nodded. Dick pats my arm and then exits the gear up as well. I stand there, holding back tears. Like an idiot. I just really really want to go home.
