"What the FUCK do you mean I'm in Gotham? That's not possible! Gotham isn't a real place!" I shrieked. These people are insane. "Okay. Okay. I'm being Punk'd. Bring out the cameras. Jokes over!"
I laugh and look around the street for a camera crew or something to pop out. But no one does. "What, is this some kind of YouTube prank channel?"
"Angela, are you okay?" The Donna approached me slowly. As if I was some kind of wild animal about to pounce. "What do you mean Gotham isn't real?"
"I mean, It's a fake place. It's fictional. Not real. It was created by DC comics in, like, the 50s or something. I can't be in Gotham because there is no Gotham."
"I think she's crazy. Must've hit her head on the way down." The Beast Boy spoke up. I looked at him and cocked my head in confusion. How the hell is his skin that realistically green? I walk up to him and run my hand down his cheek, trying to wipe off any remnants of makeup. "Okay, yeah. She's crazy." He swatted my hand away.
"Why is the makeup not coming off?" I whispered. More to myself if anything.
"Uh, because it's my skin?" He backed away from me slowly. I looked at the group again, scrutinizing everything. The Raven did have a jewel embedded in her head. It looked real. Not glued down or anything. The Wonder Girl's lasso was glowing slightly as she held it. I don't think fake ropes do that. Nightwing's eyes were the same shade of blue I remember from all my reading. Lastly, I looked at the Kid Flash.
"C-can you do me a favor?" I asked him. My voice slightly shaky from nerves and the chilly night air. "Can you run really fast over there?"
He nodded unsurely and then he was gone. A gust of air in his wake. That wasn't humanly possible, no amount of cosplay tricks could make someone move that fast.
"I, um." I mumbled. "I think I'm gonna pass out." They all ran for me as my eyes rolled into the back of my head and I blacked out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up not too long after, inside a darkened room. Am I home? Was that all some kind of weird dream? I let my eyes adjust to the darkness for a beat and looked around at my surroundings. This wasn't my dorm room.
I wasn't sure where I was, but I knew it wasn't on my campus. I shot out of the bed and sprinted for the door. I flung it open only to come face to face with a gorgeous man, He had dark black slightly curly hair, and sea glass blue eyes. It was Dick, just out of costume. He was wearing a normal black t-shirt and some jeans and holding a tray with water and a sandwich on it.
"Um, hi." He looked at me confused. I probably looked insane. I was still only in cotton shorts and my AKA T-Shirt. And I'm sure my hair was a mess. He held up the tray, "You hungry?"
My stomach rumbled as soon as he finished his sentence.
"Guess you are then." He smiled. I shakily backed away from the door and walked back over to the bed. I sat down on the edge of it and held my head in my hands.
"Am I actually in Gotham City?" I wanted to cry so bad. This can't be real.
"Uh, yeah you are." He slid the tray onto my lap. I looked down at the sandwich in despair. How the fuck did I get transported into a comic book? I've only seen this happen in those villainess manhwas I read.
"How did I get here?" I looked at him with tears brimming in my eyes.
"We're not sure. Interdemensionall travel isn't very new for us. But usually people are from an earth similar to our own. We've never had someone come from a world where we aren't around." He patted my back soothingly.
"That's not entirely true. You guys are around in my world, you're just not real. You're comic book characters. People play you guys on TV and in movies but In my world you're fictional." I grabbed the sandwich and took a small bite.
"Hmm. We have some friends who know how to travel from dimension to dimension. They're working on getting you home."
"Is it Bruce?" I ask. He stiffens when I mention his adopted father. "Sorry, I'll be careful with saying your real names out loud."
"It's alright Angela. It's just a little.. Strange hearing it." He shrugs. "But yeah, Bruce and some others are working on a way to get you back."
"Is time passing in my universe the same as it's passing here? Do my friends and family think I'm missing?"
"That is a possibility. But we're not sure." Dick gestured for me to eat more, so I took another bite of my sandwich before speaking up.
"What about Mr Mxyzptlk? He's like an interdimensional God right? Can't he poof me into my own world?"
"Jesus, you know him too?" Dick looked at me with shock written all over his face.
"Yeah, I really like comic books." I sniffed.
"You don't really look like the type." He eyed me up and down. Flattery will get him everywhere unfortunately. I wiped the tears off my face and smoothed back my hair.
"I get that a lot." I say. "I'm the president of a sorority so, people don't really expect me to be into nerd shit."
"My life is nerd shit in your dimension?" He chuckled softly. I smiled at him and nodded.
"Yeah, sorry. But if it helps you're considered one of the hottest comic book men ever. I think you and Johnny Storm are tied for number one."
"I think that's sort of flattering. Who is Johnny Storm? Is he also a part of our comic series?"
"No, he's from your competitor Marvel Comics." I took a bite of the sandwich and a large gulp of water. "But we're getting off topic, Mr Mxyzptlk? Can he help?"
"Uh, probably not. He's more of a little asshole than a person who'll help. He likes to ruin our lives more than he likes to help. Plus Superman recently had an altercation with the little guy so he's going to be gone for a while."
"So, I'm stuck here for the unforeseeable future."
"Yeah. Sorry Angela." He pats my back again as I start to tear up.
"Where am I? Right now?" I ask through tears.
"Titans Tower. You're in an unused room they had available. Robin decided to be a very gracious host."
"Which tower is this? First, Second or Third?"
"Third? What do you mean third-"
"Okay, so this is the second tower." I interupt him. "We're still on the East Coast. Jersey right? So that means we're still near Gotham."
"Y-yeah."
"What if we have Donna throw me up in the air so that I could maybe be transported back to my dimension."
"Maybe, you should just get some rest. We can talk more about what to do next in the morning." Dick tries to stand up, I get up too and follow him to the door.
"Wait! I can't sleep. This whole thing happened because I fell asleep reading your comic! I need to figure out a way to get home!"
"Ouch. Was it that boring?" He feigned a pain in his chest at the mention of me falling asleep.
"No! It had just been a long day. I actually really love your storyline right now. It's better than whatever the hell Ric Grayson was."
"Ric who?"
"Nevermind that. I need to get home."
"You can't help us help you if you're sleep deprived." He softly pushes me back towards the bed to lie down. I protest all the way to the bed but as soon as my head touches the pillow, I could feel my eyelids getting heavy.
"You have to promise me you'll try my method in the morning if I go to sleep right now." I gave him a pointed look. He grinned.
"Sorry Angela, I'm not gonna let you get tossed in the air." Ugh, superheroes and their morals. Whatever, maybe if I fall back asleep I'll wake up in my dorm room again and I could put all this behind me as some kind of weird dream. He walked out of the room and I closed my eyes and willed myself to fall asleep. I'll either wake up in my own bed or I'll be up early tomorrow and figure out a way for me to get out of here.
