The Next Day

Y/n Pov

Today is the day. The day I finally graduate high-school and close this chapter of my life. I can't be more excited, or terrified. I don't know what comes after this but I do know one thing, it's high time to stop being such a pussy.

After talking with Sam last night, I realized how ridiculous I sounded thinking that we are the only ones who would have a relationship like we would. I also did a deep dive on Reddit, which probably wasn't the best place to go, but hey. It gave me the confidence boost I needed to take the next step, whatever that is. But first? I have to walk across that stage with my best friend and get my diploma.

I turn off the water to the shower, ring out my hair and put it up in a towel on my head before wrapping a towel around my body and stepping out. I let out a long breath as I wipe the steam off of the mirror above the sink and look back at myself in it.

"Take a chance for once in your life."

I say to my reflection. Repeating the words that I've been saying over and over to myself since last night. I brush my teeth and dry myself off before hanging up my towel and wrapping my robe around my body. I still have so much to do before I have to leave in, I check my phone. Shit, two hours. I hurriedly grab my hair and skin care products before half-hazardly swinging open the bathroom door and barging into my room like a bull, barely recognizing the other presence in it until she speaks.

"In a bit of a hurry this morning aren't we darling?" Rowena says from the side of my bed where she's sitting with a smile.

I jump nearly a foot in the air, dropping my bottle of hairspray and my aloe face wipes. "Jesus, Rowena, you scared the shit out of me." I say as I kneel down to pick up the fallen products as she stands.

She lets out a short giggle as she moves to pull the chair out to my vanity mirror and desk. "My apologies dear." She says as I stand back up. "Come, sit. What look are we going for today?" She asks, tapping the seat of the chair with her hand.

I set the products down on the desk. "I was thinking of something that would go with my dress and shoes." I say with a smile as I move to my closet and pull out my dress and shoes.

"Oh y/n! Those are lovely!" Rowena squeals with excitement, as she moves closer, running the fabric of my dress through her fingers. "This will look fantastic on you! Oh, I have the perfect idea! Sit, sit!" She says excitedly as she hangs the dress on the back of my door and ushers me into the chair.

Rowena blow dries my hair after putting in some product as I do my skin care. When we're done she pulls out a curling iron and sections my hair while it heats up. "Rowena? Can I ask you something?" I ask her in the mirror as her nimble fingers work my hair in sections.

"I'm pretty sure you just did dear, but you can ask me something else." She says with a smile without meeting my eyes in the mirror.

I shift slightly in my seat, wondering if I should ask her about my predicament, but her being three hundred years old, I'm sure she has had her fair share of romantic endeavors. "This wouldn't be about the three strapping lads down stairs would it?" She asks at my silence as her eyes meet mine after she finishes sectioning my hair.

I watch the blush creep on my cheeks as I nod my head. "Yeah, you see, they all want me.. Like that.." I suddenly stumble on my words as I try to get them out. "And I know other people have relationships like that, I guess I was just wondering if you.."

"Ever have?" She finishes my question with a smile. I nod my head as she picks up the curling iron and runs her fingers in the loose section of my hair before she starts to curl it. "Darling, I have had many lovers over the years. Most nothing more than someone to warm my bed on lonely nights, a few have been a little more than that. But rarely have I ever experienced the type of love I see in the four of you." She explains as she delicately and carefully works to make curls appear in my hair.
