Chapter 10: Joe

I pack up the rest of my stuff at the desk and hurry after Lilly.

"Hey, by the way you look absolutely stunning." I say to her as I catch up to her.

"Oh thanks I guess. I'm not like wearing anything fancy. It's just sweats and a school t-shirt but thanks still." she says as she blushes looking down at the ground as we walk.

"Yeah I like a girl who is comfortable wearing what she likes and not something fancy all the time." As we walk I reach out my hand to hers and I hold it. To my surprise she doesn't pull away. She looks down at it and then looks up at me with a smile. I swear thats a smile I would pay to see everyday and the look in her eyes is captivating. I could swim in her eyes. That's how deep they look and honestly I wouldn't mind getting lost in them again. But she looks away too fast and looks back down at our hands that are still intertwined and speaks again.

"Well then I guess it's a good thing I dress however I want because it seems to be your type"

"Yes I very much agree with that."

We walk a bit in silence until she speaks again

"So how much can I spend?" she says with a laugh and then looks up at me and smiles quickly before looking down again. It takes everything in me not to stop us right here and take her face in my hands so she looks at me. But instead I just answer her question and keep walking towards the restaurant.

"Get whatever you want I'm paying. Heck, wanna go shopping afterwards?"

"Thank you but I don't think my kind of shopping would interest you and plus you don't need to buy me things" she says looking down as I open the door to the restaurant and let her go in first.

"I don't care, I wanna spend more time with you."

"How about we just eat and if I think the date is going well, I'll take you somewhere cool. Deal?" She says with a smile and a sparkle in her eye. I love it when she makes eye contact with me.

"Ok, deal."

She lets go of my hand and offers it out for a handshake, stopping outside the door. I shake her hand and then go back to holding it, while I open the door for her, this makes her smile again. We walk straight up to the counter and I motion for her to order first. She steps up and in the sweetest voice, the same one she used early when she ordered lunch, and asks for 8 piece nuggets and a small fries. Then she looks up at me for my turn. I order a chicken sandwich with no pickles and fries with a sprite.

"Do you wanna share a cookies and cream milkshake with me?"

"Sure I love that milkshake." She smiles up at me again

I order a cookies and cream milkshake as well. Then I pay and guide her to a table in the back area away from everyone since I notice she hates being surrounded by others. When I sit down she does to but on the other side of the table and looks down at her hands. I notice her playing with her rings which I guess is what she does when she is nervous. I hate that this makes her nervous and I really want this date to go well because I'd like to see where she takes me after. Which is why instead of sitting in silence I make conversation.

"Hey so, that's a nice ring, where did you get it?"

"It was my mom's but she didn't want it so I got it. It's a bit big on my fingers but I miss her so I wear it everyday." She says while looking down at it

"That's cool and really sweet, I wear a necklace that reminds me of my dog that passed."

"Aww that's cute but I'm also sorry for your loss, I hate it when animals die. If I could I would make them immortal so that they could live with us forever. But at least one day we will reunite with them in heaven." She says with a smile but it looks sort of sad

"I very much agree with that animals are better than people."

"That statement just made me like you a little bit more" she says as she looks up and smiles at me.

We continue to talk about our pets and after about 20 minutes our food arrives, and I hand her the nuggets and fries.

"Do you need any sauce?"

"No I'm good, thanks though and thank you for paying"

"Of course, no problem at all."

"So can I ask you a question?" She asks while she eats her fries first.

"Yeah go ahead."

"Why me? Why did you stay in the class when it was the wrong one just for me?" She asks while looking me straight in the eyes, I feel like she can see my soul when she does that.

"The reason why is because I felt very pulled to you and for some reason very connected to you like God let me to you."

She stares at me for a few seconds like she is either in shock or is trying to figure out if I'm lying. But what I'm not expecting is what she says next.

"That's probably the nicest thing someone has ever said to me. So thank you and I also feel that way, which is new for me but I kinda like the feeling." She blushes and looks down quickly at her food breaking our stare.

"Hey look at me."

She slowly lifts her head and her eyes meet mine. When my eyes meet hers I'm lost, They are mesmerizing and beautiful. I can't look away from her for even a second, I'm captivated in the deep ocean.

I think I just fell in love with an angel. As we stare into each other's eyes for a while I start to lean in for a quick kiss but I'm not at all prepared for her taste. Her lips tasted like cherries and it was amazing. I felt like a starved man wanting more of this sweet taste, more of her.

I was breathless after she pulled away, and all I could think was more. I wanted more, no I needed more. But the look on her face told me that she was not there yet so I went back to eating.
