Chapter 11: Lilly

I can't believe I just let that happen, ugh stupid heart! You are trying to get yourself hurt.

I knew that after I met his eyes I would be lost in them, I always am. They are so captivating and can hold so much emotion in them. Which is how I could see his clear intentions while he leaned in. I thought I was prepared for it but I was so wrong. I was not at all.

When he leaned in I thought it would just be a quick kiss between two strangers that would mean nothing. But it wasn't, it was everything. The second my lips touched his, my heart and mind was silent. He tasted like nothing I had ever tasted before, fresh and sweet, kinda like mint. His lips were soft and gentle. I wanted more, I wanted to reach out and grip his face, to slide my tongue into his mouth and really taste him, to run my hand through his hair and down his back. But I couldn't, it was too fast and so soon. So I pulled away and looked down at my food because I couldn't face him.

I let out a sigh and face him again after a few seconds.

"As much as I enjoyed that kiss could you just not do that again please, my heart can't take that right now. I can only offer being friends, and not the kind with benefits." I say as I stare him in the eyes. I feel bad because its not his fault I'm not ready and that I don't know when I will be.

"Yeah of course whatever makes you comfortable." he says smiling still 

"Thank you for understanding. I really appreciate it." I say with a smile because its so amazing and unreal how kind he is.

"No problem."

After we both finish our food I look up at him again and I tell him exactly how I feel about this date.

"Joe, this is my first date and I just wanna say that I loved it. It was amazing and fun. So thank you for taking me. If you don't have any other plans I would like to show you the place I wanted to earlier." I ask because I know that this date was a good decision and spending more time with him is also good, even if it's just as friends.

"I'm so glad you enjoyed the date because I did too. I would love to go to the place you wanna take me."

"Ok great! Let me just walk back to my dorm and get my jacket and keys." I say as I start to clean up my mess and throw the trash away.

"Ok um also I need to tell you something before you find out about it later."

"Okay what is it?' I face him waiting for him to hurt me, but when he speaks it doesn't hurt me which is a first.

"Earlier today in my math class today some football player told me he liked you only for your body and I lied and said you had a boyfriend. Then I got really mad at him calling you an object to look at."

"Oh thank you, for standing up for me. That says a lot about you and I guess you technically didn't lie, since I do have a boy who is a friend." I say as we walk out of the restaurant towards the dorms.

"Ok I'm glad your not mad and I'd be honored to be your friend, for now at least." he says smiling

"Me to" I smile and reach for his hand. He lets me take it and I walk with him hand in hand.

Once we reach the dorms I let go of his hand and turn the corner to the first one, Dorm #1. I grab my key and unlock the door. I turn and face Joe before walking in.

"It's a mess in here so just wait out here while I grab my stuff"

"Ok, fine by me and also I don't care about a mess. My room is also a mess."

"Haha ok, I'll be back" I turn and open the door, then close it.

I turn the lights on and try to find the box with all my jackets. There I found it, I put on my favorite black hoodie and turn around to my desk for my car keys. Once I have them I reopen the door and find Joe leaning against the wall looking sexy as fuck.

"I just need to change my shoes really fast before we go" I say as I grab my converse sneakers and take off my boots. I switch shoes and face him again

"Ready?" I ask with a smile on my face because I really hope he loves where we go.

"I'm ready."

"Ok lets go. Are you okay with me driving you there?" I ask as I grab his hand.

"Yeah I don't care."

"Great"

We walk towards the parking lot to my BMW and unlock the doors. I get in the driver seat and Joe gets in the passenger seat. I grab my phone and place the changer in so that apple car play will work for my GPS. I type in the address and start the directions. I turn to face Joe before driving to see if he's ready and he is. But before driving way I open Spotify and play 'Mine By Taylor Swift", then I back out of the park space and follow the directions.

"I love this song." He starts singing and jamming out

"I know you do, you told me." I ask while I start humming along, still following the GPS

"Oh right." he says laughing

After a couple minutes and a whole bunch of replays of the song I pull into the parking area which is really just a dirt field and I park. I turn and face Joe so I can finally tell him where we are but I have a feeling he can already see it. The bright lights kinda give it away.

"So you can probably already tell that I'm taking you to a carnival. I saw a post on it earlier today and they stay open until midnight so I was going to go by myself but then we had the date and I wanted to bring you. What do you think?" I say to him while smiling because I hope he likes the surprise.

"I fucking love this, thank you so much for brining me Lil."

"Aww I'm glad you like it, I like that nickname by the way ." I blush when I say that while I get out of the car and I walk over to his side to hold his hand. I look up at him and smile.

"Are you ready to have fun?" I ask him, feeling more excited than I ever have.

"Yes, I'm so ready."

And those 4 words are all I need to start dragging him to the carnival entrance.
