~𝗙𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸~
As the convoy of sleek black cars wound its way toward Jeon's mansion, Soomin's heart pounded with mounting dread. Each mile brought him closer to the lion's den, where he could cost his life. Despite his meticulous planning and sharp instincts, he knew that Jeon was a master at this deadly game.
Jeon wasn't a man to be deceived easily. If he even caught a whiff of Soomin's betrayal, he would erase him from existence as though he had never existed. Soomin's mission to infiltrate the palace, collect fingerprints, gather intel on Jeon's associates, and their dealing records, he had done it all. Now, with the data securely been transferred, the most daunting task remained was escaping undetected.
He needed a plan, and he needed it fast, his life depended on it.
Soomin's mind raced with desperate cunning as he coughed softly, seeking attention from the others in the car. Surrounded by guards, he needed a way out, and no one seemed to notice his initial attempts.
He coughed again, louder this time, adding a rasp to his breath. When the car hit a bump in the road, causing a jolt, Soomin seized the opportunity. He lurched forward dramatically, coughing violently.
"Hey, are you okay?" the man beside him asked, concern lacing his voice.
Soomin forced a pained expression, clutching his chest and gasping for air as if he was struggling to breathe.
Soomin's desperate act intensified as he continued to feign severe illness. "V-vomit, I f-feel like I'll vomit, p-please stop the car," he said loudly, ensuring the guards heard him.
The guards in the front seat exchanged uneasy glances before the one in the passenger seat spoke with a tough edge, "Jeon is waiting. The car won't stop. Get a handle on yourself until we reach."
Soomin, undeterred, exaggerated his distress. "Y-you knucklehead! C-can't you see I can't breathe? My stomach is c-churning," he panted, adding a convincing gagging sound, "blarghhhh~"
The guard shot a dagger-like glare at Soomin but the driver stopped him from saying anything further
The driver pulled over to the side of the road.
"Make it quick," He ordered, his expression stern. As soon as the car halted, Soomin clutched his stomach and fumbled with the door handle, making a show of urgency. He stumbled out of the car, falling to his knees and pretending to retch violently.
The guard in the passenger seat exited the car, keeping a wary eye on Soomin from a distance. Soomin ran towards a cluster of rocks, far enough to create some space. He doubled over, pretending to vomit onto the ground.
Soomin continued his act of vomiting until, with a swift and practiced motion, he pulled the hidden gun from his waist under the jacket and spun around. In an instant, he fired, the first bullet hitting the nearest guard squarely in the bicep.
Chaos erupted. The injured guard stumbled back, clutching his arm, while the driver leapt from the car, gun drawn, and fired back at Soomin.
Soomin ducked behind a nearby rock, narrowly avoiding the shots. He returned fire, the sound of gunshots echoing through the area, and then seized his chance. With a few more shots to keep the guards at bay, he bolted towards the dense forest.
The guards shouted and scrambled, but Soomin ran deeper into the forest, his heart pounding, determined to put as much distance between himself and the guards as possible.
"C-catch him!" the wounded guard yelled, clutching his bleeding bicep, while the workers who had also emerged from the car took off in Soomin's direction.
