CONNECTIONS
On the ground, with a fabric beneath them, Lisa finally found a moment to rest her mind and body after hours of busyness.
Now, she could indulge in her novel. Beside her, Jeongguk was immersed in sketching, captivated by the surrounding nature.
Surrounded by the soothing sounds of crickets and the gentle splash of water from the nearby river, they both found peace in the beautiful scene.
As Lisa felt the fatigue creeping in, she set her book aside and drew her knees to her chest, gazing out at the serene river.
Turning to Jeongguk, who was still engrossed in his sketching, she remarked, "You really have a passion for drawing."
"Certainly," Jeongguk replied, his pencil pausing mid-stroke as he glanced up at Lisa. "I find it calming. It's like a way to capture the beauty around us."
Lisa nodded, a faint smile gracing her lips. "It's beautiful how you see the world through your drawings."
Jeongguk returned the smile, a hint of gratitude in his eyes. "You know, you're pretty good at capturing moments too."
Lisa's cheeks warmed at the unexpected compliment. "Really? How so?"
"Well, in the way you immerse yourself in your book, it's like you're living each moment as if you're part of the story," Jeongguk explained, admiration evident in his voice.
Lisa gazed at Jeongguk with a gentle smile, a soft sigh escaping her lips. "I've noticed how much you appreciate people, Jeongguk," she remarked. "It feels like this is the first time I've heard someone truly compliment and appreciate me."
Jeongguk returned her smile, his eyes reflecting warmth and sincerity. "I suppose it's just in my nature," he grinned.
Lisa nodded in understanding, her smile widening at his response. They lapsed into a comfortable silence, the peace of the moment enveloping them.
As the peaceful silence lingered between them, Lisa felt her heart beating a little faster, her thoughts swirling with courage.
She glanced at Jeongguk, her mind racing with the words she longed to say.
Taking a deep breath, she turned towards him, her voice barely above a whisper. "Jeongguk, there's something I've been wanting to tell you," she began, her eyes meeting his with a mixture of apprehension and affection.
Jeongguk's expression softened, his gaze locked on hers, waiting patiently for her to continue as he put down his stuff.
""I... I've realized that..." Lisa confessed, her voice barely above a whisper, her heart pounding in her chest. "From the moment we met, you've been a constant presence in my thoughts. Your kindness, your humor, the way you see beauty in the simplest of things... it all drew me in, slowly but surely."
