HIDDEN SECRET

When they arrived at his flat, Lisa helped Jeongguk out of the taxi and up the stairs to his door.

He fumbled with his keys, his hands shaking slightly, but eventually managed to unlock the door.

As they stepped inside, Jeongguk paused, turning to Lisa. "I’m fine now, Lisa," he said, his voice steadying. "The headache is gone. It must have just been the stress and the long journey. Really, I’m okay."

Lisa searched his eyes, looking for any sign that he might still be unwell.

Seeing the determination in his gaze, she nodded slowly. "If you’re sure. But please, if you feel anything off, tell me."

Jeongguk smiled, a hint of his usual confidence returning. "I promise. Thank you for getting me here. I just need some rest."

Lisa nodded, giving his hand one last squeeze before letting go.

As she turned to leave, Jeongguk gently grabbed her hand. "Wait, Lisa," he said softly. "You've been writing to me all this time. I need to spend time with you. Please, stay for a while. I don’t want to be alone right now."

Lisa looked at him, her expression softening. "Alright," she nodded. "I'll stay for a while."

Jeongguk's smile grew warmer, and they got inside the flat.

Lisa entered Jeongguk's flat, her eyes scanning the place. It was her first time here, and she couldn't help but notice how clean and organized everything was.

Her gaze fell on a framed photograph on the wall. She assumed it was his parents, who had passed away.

Behind them were Jeongguk and Hyun at a young age, both smiling brightly.

Jeongguk gestured for her to sit down. "Make yourself comfortable. I just need to put this away," he said, taking off his hat and heading to his room.

He unbuttoned the top of his uniform shirt, allowing himself to breathe easier, then returned to the living room where Lisa sat.

"Your place is lovely," Lisa said, looking around appreciatively.

"Thanks," Jeongguk replied, sitting down next to her. "It’s not much."

She returned his smile. "Are you feeling better?"

He nodded, sitting down beside her. "Yeah, I just needed a moment to catch my breath. It's been a whirlwind, coming back after so long."

Lisa nodded, understanding. "It must be overwhelming, adjusting to being back."

Jeongguk sighed, leaning back against the couch. "It is, but knowing you're here makes it easier. Reading your letters was one thing, but having you here in person is comforting."
