Travis sped away in the minivan, a smile spread on his face because of the new life he had seen being brought into the world.
"Mommy?", Lucy asked from the backseat. She was sitting on the floor of the car because Travis hadn't buckled her up.
"Lucy, why aren't you in your car seat? Travis, stop the car and buckle Lucy up!", Taylor panicked.
"Are you sure? We need to get going", Travis insisted.
"You would sure regret making that decision if we just happen to get in a car accident", Taylor said, wrapping the newly born baby in a blanket. The baby made newborn grunting noises, stretching its little body out. She scrunched her little body up as her mom adjusted her in her arms.
"Mommy, why were you screaming?", Lucy asked. She was stroking her stuffed bunny's ears, confused why her family was acting so strange.
"Because it hurts to have a baby", Taylor answered. The baby began to fuss so Taylor pulled one side of her sports bra down and pressed the baby to her breast. The baby immediately latched, hungrily eating.
"There's my hungry girl", Taylor cooed, smiling down at the little human.
"But why?", Lucy asked. She was a very curious little girl.
"I don't know. It's kind of like how it hurts to scrape your knee", Taylor explained. "But 100 times worse and it feels like you are dying while pushing a human out", Taylor mumbled under her breath.
Travis chuckled at the last part. "You did so good. I am so, so proud of you. You are honestly the strongest woman I know", Travis complimented, placing a hand on his new baby's little body.
"Woman?", Taylor asked, raising a brow at him. "I don't see men pushing humans out with no pain medicine. Quite frankly, I don't see them pushing babies out even with pain medicine, or at all", Taylor said sarcastically.
"You're right. You are the strongest person I know. Male or female", Travis said, correcting himself.
Travis parked the car in a random Walmart parking lot and got out of the car, going to Lucy's door.
"OK girlie. Let's get you buckled up", Travis said, leaning his head down so he could see inside the car.
Lucy obediently hopped up into her carseat, allowing her dad to buckle her up.
Travis finished buckling Lucy in and spread her pink blanket over her.
"Daddy?", Lucy whispered. She grabbed Travis's head with her little hands and pulled it close to her face.
"Does Mommy need a band-aid? She got a boo boo because she said she scraped her knee", Lucy whispered into Travis's ear.
Travis's heart melted. Lucy was the sweetest little girl. "That's so nice of you but I think she already had a band-aid", Travis whispered back. He kissed his daughter's forehead, purposely tickling her with his whiskers. Lucy giggled.
Once the family got back on the road, the baby began to cry. Taylor rocked the baby in her arms, hoping a police officer didn't pull them over for the baby not being in a car seat.
"Oh Travis! She's peeing", Taylor exclaimed.
"Why isn't she wearing a diaper?", Travis asked, equally panicked.
"I don't know! Maybe because I just gave birth to her less than an hour ago!", exclaimed Taylor.
"It's OK. At least she's not a boy. Then she'd be peeing on the ceiling", Travis reasoned.
