Previously..."I sounds like a banging noise...up there"

Travis looked up and tried to hear what Taylor was hearing.

While the sounds were faint to the naked ear, they were loud and clear to the distraught parents.

"Where could he be then?" Travis asked, not completely following Taylor's logic.

Taylor's eyes filled with tears. "The old stupid elevator! Why did you choose this stupid old creepy apartment to live in!" Taylor sobbed. She was in shock and this was her response to it.

"I'm going to call the fire department to come check the elevator. Don't worry", Travis assured.

"Don't worry! Travis, my helpless 6-year-old is either lost, kidnapped, or stuck in an elevator alone and you're telling me not to worry? That's the only emotion I'm feeling right now", Taylor exclaimed.

Travis only responded with sympathetic eyes because the fire department had already picked up the phone call.

Travis removed the phone from his ear. "They said they'll be here in about three minutes", Travis said, putting his phone back into his pocket as he ran his fingers through his hair.

"Three minutes! They need to be her now! My baby", Taylor sobbed but Travis held her close, pressing his lips to her forehead.

"I've also called the police and they'll search the nearby area. We'll find him", Travis assured, smoothing his fingers through his distraught wife's blonde locks.

Taylor took deep breaths against Travis's chest in an attempt to calm herself. The feeling of being so helpless as to the knowledge of her child's whereabouts was the absolute worst feeling she'd ever experienced before. All she could do was sit there and wait.

Before Taylor and Travis knew it, the firefighters arrived. They clamped the old elevator doors open and looked up at the elevator shaft above them.

It was all a blur to Taylor but before she knew it, the shaft was on ground level and she saw before her eyes her little boy with red tear marks around his eyes.

"Sawyer!" Taylor exclaimed, shoving past the firemen the second Sawyer set foot out of the elevator. Happy tears of joy fell from her blue eyes.

"Mommy", Sawyer sobbed, hugging his mom close as she picked him up. This was quite the accomplishment considering she had given birth a very short time ago.

"I'm here baby. It's ok", Taylor comforted, rubbing the 6-year-old's back as she swayed with him in her arms.

Once everything had died down, a fireman requested Sawyer from his mother's arms to give him a physical examination to make sure he was healthy.

"How many fingers am I holding up?" The fireman asked, holding up three fingers.

"Four", Sawyer answered confidently.

"Don't be alarmed- he's still learning", Travis stepped in, causing the fireman to nod in acknowledgement.

The firemen examined Sawyer's eye with a flashlight and raised an eyebrow.

"Is everything OK?", Taylor asked with worry.

"Are you aware that your son had a black eye on his right eye?" The fireman asked.

"What? No", Taylor said with surprise. She shoved the fireman aside and examined her son's hazel-green eye for herself.

"Travis, look", Taylor said in awe.
