"Did you get Daddy in trouble and take him to your room to spank him? Sawyer said that once Daddy was mad at you so he picked you up and spanked you in your room too", Lucy babbled, going on and on during dinner.
Taylor and Travis were speechless but luckily Taylor thought of something to say.
"No, I didn't spank daddy. Just eat your food".
After Travis had bathed the kids so Taylor could feed Navy, he laid each of them in their beds.
"Daddy?" Lucy asked as she looked up at her dad from her spot laying in bed. She had insisted on wearing her unicorn PJs just in case one showed up at their apartment.
"Yes princess", Travis answered to his daughter, smoothing his fingers out through Lucy's blonde curls. Her hair was very similar to Taylor's and she looked exactly like a young Taylor.
"I think Mommy's mad at you because you didn't tell her about getting a dog", Lucy said, cuddling her stuffed bunny.
"I know. I messed up", Travis nodded. "Since when did you get so grown up and smart?", Travis asked, tickling Lucy's tummy.
Lucy giggled, squirming under Travis's hand. "Because I'm almost four".
"You're right. Alright now, time for bed Lucy Mae. I love you so much", Travis said, pressing a lingering kiss to Lucy's forehead, ruffling her hair before turning on the night light and shutting the door.
Once all the kids were in bed, Travis returned to find Taylor cradling a sleeping Navy in her arms.
"Travis", Taylor stated, seeing him close the door behind him.
"Hi", Travis said. He took his shirt and pants off, leaving him in only his boxers. He headed to the attached bathroom to brush his teeth.
Taylor saw Travis through the open door in only his boxers as he washed his face and got the tips of his hair wet, throwing it back to dry. She gulped, looking away so she could remember why she was mad at him. This was her weakness, especially since she was one month postpartum so technically they could.
Travis walked over to the bed where Taylor sat in. "I'm sorry. I should have told you before we took the dog and I feel terrible that you don't think that I've changed".
Taylor looked down at Navy with a lump in her throat. "You don't understand how much I've sacrificed for you. I didn't leave you when you told me that you'd been lying to me about your career since the day we met. I moved to Canada suddenly with no questions asked while 8 months pregnant, I haven't turned you in even though you've killed people for your job, Travis. But the hardest part of it all is that my own mother doesn't even know where I am or that her new grandchild is born and healthy. I don't complain about it but each day drags on because I have no support system outside of you because all of our friends and family think we're probably dead". Tears streamed freely down Taylor's cheeks. She sniffled, wiping her tears with her thumb so they didn't travel down to Navy's precious face.
Travis was speechless. He had no idea she was hurting like this and felt like a horrible husband for not getting the hints. Tears dropped down his cheeks just thinking about all the pain his wife was holding alone.
"Taylor, I had no idea you felt this way and I feel like a fool for not catching the hints. I'm so sorry and I'll try to catch the hints next time. Will you please forgive me?" Travis asked, gently taking Navy from Taylor and setting her in her cot. He climbed back into bed and embraced his sobbing wife.
"I forgive you", she said through sobs.
He held her tightly against his chest, the glow of solely the bedside table lamps setting the mood.
"But you not telling me about the dog was like a slap on the face because I thought we were a team", Taylor said against Travis's chest, playing with his chest hairs.
"We are and I'm so sorry for not acting like we were", Travis apologized.
"It's ok", she whispered.
Travis turned the lamps off and held Taylor as close to him as he had the night of the honeymoon. "I'm sorry you can't see your family. That's not fair", Travis sympathized, kissing Taylor's forehead softly.
"I am too. I really miss them", Taylor agreed. The feel of her husband's comforting lips against her forehead soothed her.
"Maybe sometime I could set up a way for you to see them without it being dangerous", Travis offered. He ran his fingers on her back under her shirt, causing complete relaxation to fall over Taylor.
"Maybe. But if there's even a slight chance that they'll be in danger then I don't want it". Taylor buried her face further in Travis's neck, breathing in his scent.
"I understand," Travis agreed. "I love you so much Taylor. I don't deserve a wife like you at all. I don't know how I got so lucky to be married to such a beautiful kind woman like you".Travis felt Taylor smile against his neck. "Thanks. Sometimes I wonder the same thing", she muttered, pressing a soft kiss to his neck.
"How you got me?" Travis asked.
"No. How you got me to marry you", Taylor laughed, causing Travis to laugh.
Taylor began pressing soft kisses to Travis's neck, biting softly to the tissue.
"Taylor, what are you doing?" Travis asked with hitched breath.
"Mhmm, it's been a month. I've been clear for a while now", Taylor whispered in his ear.
"Are you sure about this? I don't want to hurt you", Travis whispered.
"I want you to hurt me", Taylor mumbled seductively.
"We'll wake Navy up", Travis protested but held Taylor tightly to him.
"I'll be quiet, promise", Taylor wined. "You're no fun". Taylor gave Travis a pouty lip.
"Ok, but tell me if it hurts", Travis said with a raspy voice.
....
Travis watched as Taylor laid on his chest, their bare bodies providing unmatchable warmth. "I love you", he whispered to his sleeping wife, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
Travis felt his eyelids drifting off to sleep when suddenly he felt Taylor squirm in his arms and let out an unbearable cry.
