Chapter 15: This is Berk

Hiccup slowly blinked his eyes open, to see Toothless staring at him. The dragon leaned forward and nudged him with his nose.

"Hey buddy."

Toothless nuzzled against Hiccup, and accidentally stepped on his stomach, making him groan in pain.

Hiccup looked around and his eyes widened at where he was. "Uh...I'm in my house..." he looked to Toothless. "Uh...you're in my house."

Toothless started running and jumping around the room happily, knocking some things over in the process.

"Uh, does my dad know you're here?"

Toothless climbed onto a beam, and Hiccup called out to him.

"Toothless...Toothless!"

Hiccup moved to get out of bed, when he paused. He looked down and removed the covers, his eyes widening. He placed his right foot down, and then his left, to reveal a peg leg in place of his foot.

Hiccup looked down in disbelief, but took a deep breath and tried to stand up anyway. He went to take a step forward, but stumbled. Toothless caught him and allowed him to hold onto him as Hiccup stumbled to the front door.

He opened it to be greeted with the sight of a Monstrous Nightmare, making him yelp and close it again.

"Toothless, stay here." He warned.

Hiccup opened the door again, and this time saw Snotlout riding the Monstrous Nightmare.

"Come on guys, let's go!" He called.

Hiccup stepped outside and looked around in awe at all the dragons that were in Berk. Some were resting on rooftops, others were eating from a huge bowl containing a bunch of fish.

"I knew it. I'm dead." Hiccup said in disbelief.

Stoick came up beside him, laughing and placed a hand on his shoulder. "No, but you have it your best shot. So...what do you think?"

"Hey look, it's Hiccup!" Someone yelled.

"Hiccup!"

"It's Hiccup!"

Several Vikings came up to Hiccup, surrounding him.

"Turns out all we needed was a little more of this." Stoick gestured to Hiccup.

"You just gestured to all of me." Hiccup realized.

"Well, most of you." Gobber added. "That bit's my handy work. With a little Hiccup flare thrown in. You think it'll do?"

Hiccup looked down at his makeshift foot. "I might make a few tweaks..."

"Hiccup!"

Hiccup turned and was quickly pulled into a hug by (Y/n). "I thought you died you idiot!" She lightly scolded.

Astro came up and punched Hiccup in the shoulder. "That's for scaring her." He stated, slipping an arm around (Y/n)'s waist.

Gobber stepped forward, handing Hiccup his saddle and the tail attachment. "Welcome home."

"Night Fury!"

"Get down!"

Toothless burst out of the house, climbing on top of people to get to Hiccup.

Astro, (Y/n) and Hiccup all laughed and shared a look.

...

Hiccup clipped his peg leg into the pedal on the saddle and tested out how well it opened and closed the tail.

"This is Berk."

Behind him, the rest of the teens as well as several other Vikings mounted their dragons, ready to take off.

"It snows nine months of the year, and hails the other three."

Hiccup and his friends took off into the sky, flying around the island.

"Any food that grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here are even more so."

Astro and (Y/n) flew by on the Nadder, sharing a kiss as they did so.

"The only upsides are the pets. While other places have ponies, or parrots, we have..."

"Dragons."
