------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Second last period and I haven't seen Dan yet, absent maybe? I don't know.
I walk to my locker, take my books and close it.

"Hi Carrie, it's Sarah."

"Oh, hey. How are you?"

"Good, just lost, again" she laughs. "Where is Math class with Mr.Doile?"

"Block 4, I'm heading there. We can walk together." I smile.

"Thanks so much. " she pushes her glasses up. She flips her brunette frindge away, that almost covered her eyes and she has loose hair that is brushed and bushy. A little bit overweight and insecure. But she is beautiful. Very beautiful. I look at her face a little longer and reply.

"No problem."

"Hey! Carrie, wait up!" I turn around and see Dan run from the stairs towards me. Panting, he says hello.

"Hello Daniel, this is my friend Sarah Syd." I smile.

"Hey, Sarah. Hope you lovely ladies had a wonderful day. But may I speak to Carrie privately please?"

"Um, okay, I'll go ahead." says Sarah.

"I'll meet you there, just turn right and up the stairs." We waited till she was out of sight.

"What's up?" I ask.

"The ceiling." he says.

"Really?" I ask with a grin.He just laughs. That cute, sensitive laugh.

"Why do you need to speak to me privately?" I ask mockingly.

"I have this bio project and uh, I was wondering if you could he-help me"

I could detect the lie from the twitch of his lips. I get stares and chats from students walking pass us. That 'Why Is the hot guy talking to the weird girl?' I choose to ignore it, but it became louder.

"What do you say? Library later?"

"Uh, ok. Sure, I was actually going there after school to check some History books."

"Cool, I'll see you then." I look around and people were chattering and whispering with looks of disgust. I could see him from the corner of my eye trying to figure it all out.

"What's wrong?" He asks noticing now I'm not interest anymore to our conversation.

"Nothing, I'll see you." I away walk fast and the people stop talking. Everybody suddenly minded their own business. Do they really think people wouldn't notice? Well if they do, they are stupid.

The bell rings and I catch up with Sarah. We walk together and in class all I was thinking about was the stares people gave me earlier. Can't I just life my life without suspicion?

Forty five minutes later, the period ends. Sarah and I say our goodbyes and I head to the library. Taking my time and ignoring the people around me. I look around to see if he's here, not yet. Not wasting any more time, I go the Non - fiction section and check out the best history books. Books that interest can actually learn from rather than books that just don't make sense.

"Psst! Carrie! I'm here." He stands behind the 'other languages' section.

"Why are you hiding?" I ask.

"Just come with me!" She softly shouts. He grabs my arm and pulls me to the back of the school. Behind the library, which smelt like smoke.

"Hey Dan, Why are we here?"

"Because I want to talk to you." He smiles.

"I thought you had a project you need help with?" I ask confused.

"I don't, I just wanted to talk to you. You know, get to know you more."

"Why can't you talk to me earlier? Does it really have to be this private?"

"No." He shrugs. "I just really want to know more about you. People here are gossipers, i don't like it. " He seems worried of the peoples reaction. Talking privately means he wants to hide, make it look like it's nothing when school begins. A conversation and then done. Within a blink of an eye. Don't talk after that anymore.
I get it, it happens all the time.

"Well you could do that sometime else but now I need books. " I start walking back.

"Wait, I thought you were failing?" He catches up.

"Oh my, that was a great boost. " I say sarcastically.

"No, I mean. I thought you didn't care. " He says confused.

"Sure, I don't care but I'm not exactly stupid." I reply.

"Got It. Sorry." He shrugs his bag tighter. And follows me back to the library and I continue my search for a book.
