We stop in front of my house. The dead silent street where i lived my whole life. The memories, the problems, the parties and the gatherings. All those took part in my house. I still remember falling from my bike when i was seven at the backyard, arriving from home in a blue BMW when mom gave birth to Becca, which she eventually sold (car). All of those memories re accrued to me when he stopped the car, ten minutes ago. I tell him i just need a few seconds, a few seconds to reflect on what i have seen, on what i have done and accomplished as i stare into a white painted house. My house.
I hear a sound, a soft whisper.
"Carrie, are you okay? " He speaks slowly."For years I spent my life in painted walls and... For the first time, I actually saw something incredible. "
I see his confused face, staring blankly at me. I let out a small laugh.
"Alright. See you tomorrow. " I open the car door and stepped outside.
"Well thanks for going with me today, I had fun." He says.
"Thanks to you." I reply. I close the car door and wait for him to start the car and drive. I wait at an empty road. I don't know why.
Moments later I walk to the front door, taking out my key I and unlocking the door. I head upstairs to my room and played my favourite C.D. I switch the on button and placed the disc gently and tapped on play. The music starts and it's soothing. I listen to the lyrics carefully. I listen to it with meaning.
Music has the ability to evoke emotions; it can make us laugh, fuel our anger, provide comfort during loss, or even make us cry.
I close my eyes, and listen.
It's hard to believe that there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe that I'm all alone
At least I have her love, the city she loves me
Lonely as I am, together we cryUnder The Bridge - Red Hot
Chili PeppersA sudden silence I hear. The C.D stopped playing.
" Carrie?" I turn round and see my sister peeking at my door.
"Becca, what's wrong?" I ask.
"I missed you." She walks to me and gives me a tight hug.
"Oh. I missed you to. " I place my hand in her hair.
"I had a nightmare Carrie, you were gone and I was left alone. Mom wasn't there, she never was and I was there wondering where you went."
I felt a sudden tear roll down her eyes, I instantly wipe it away.
"That's never ever going to happen, okay? I'm here Becca, don't cry."
I release from her hug and kiss her forehead.
"Tomorrow, it's just you and me. We will go out and have fun, just the two of us. "
"Promise?" She asks.
"I promise. " She smiles.
~~~~~~~ The Next DAY~~~~~~~
"Hey Becca, are you ready? We should be going by now. " I shout, waiting for her to come down the stairs.
"Wait a minute, just putting on my shoes." She replies.
I feel a buzz on my trousers. I receive a message.
