15:00~Cara~
“Jíah, how are you?” I hug her close. Ana and Kaenaék were able to convince her that the baby’s corpse needed to come out. She couldn’t deliver it naturally because of the sword damage to her uterus, and an infection had already started.
It's almost impossible for a troll to get an infection. I’m surprised she was able to keep her uterus as well. Ana and Kaenaékpaired magic with science to help her. Sin took the baby and turned it into a gem. We asked if he could do the dust thing so maybe the baby could be born. She could have that bit of happiness, but that would involve him getting intimate with Jíah.
Nope!
The gem did become a protection spell. It seems whoever is keeping an eye on Jíah, they want to give her added protection. She has decided to dedicate herself to becoming a teacher. She says she’ll start in the apartment building in the poorer side of town or in a school if one is built. She can teach basic education and magic. It’s part of her training. If she were on Earth, she could teach into 6th grade. It was Jíah’s idea to set up carriages to shuttle children. Essentially, school buses.
“I am… no." She stops her fake levity with a sad tone. "I will work through this." She sounds determined. "Amanda created a support group for those of us who lost… who…” I hug her quickly and rock her. No one knows if she’ll ever be able to have babies after this. Sure, they saved her uterus, but no one knows if it can tear if she ever gets pregnant again.
“I know. My babies… I know. I’m here for you.” I feel her head nod. Heida hugs her from the other side. Soon, more people who have lost their babies have joined our group hug. Amanda works fast.
“What is this?” I hear a visitor ask. They look human-ish? There’s something off about him. A glamor?
“They’ve lost their little ones and are supporting each other. They are going to work through it together.” I hear Amanda explain. “My sister is finally pregnant again. This time, there’s three. She and Tavi have even adopted a taníyn child. Her mother and step-dad were mụrdered. Little Tira and baby Ben were abducted. The people almost killed little Tira. Even after great loss, there’s hope and love. Lots of children need loving homes.” The range of emotions in the man’s eyes are vast. His face is like stone, though. Very stoic.
“I am here looking for my child. I thought he died with his mother when bandits attacked their wagon. His mother was found in a brothel in Lókyä. We rescued her, but our son was sold off. She can’t have children anymore. He is our only hope.”
“Come with me. I can take blood and get your DNA code from it. We’ll run it against everyone we have or…” She walks out of the room with him, explaining DNA inheritance in layman’s terms.
“How are the orphans?” Heida asks. Everyone pays attention suddenly.
“Amanda is running DNA to look for relatives. A few families we found through magical means have responded with, ‘Keep them. We can’t afford our own.’ So, there’s kids we know for sure need homes and are up for adoption. The kids are heartbroken. You all can relate.”
Sad “Yeah” and “Yes” echoes throughout the group.
“Cara, can she check us?" Heida files with the hem of her dress nervously. "If we’re relatives, we should take them in. We’ve all suffered loss. We can help each other.” I nod.
“Even if they aren’t related, we could adopt.” Jorg chimes in.
“We can check. It’ll take time. Talk to the kids. Let them know your loss and talk to them about your ideas. The sooner they’re in a loving home, the better. You can also foster. Take care of them until family is found or they go up for adoption.”
