Faemála’s Realm
Day 7~Cara~
“A little more to the left. No, your other left. Yes, that’s it. Now set it down carefully aaaaand done!” Kícoatl wipes the sweat from his brow. I’ve been watching him teach the littles and a few adults on moving things with their elements. The only ones who can’t are fire. That would be a disaster. “Very good, Andrew. Please reset, and we will have someone else try.”
“I want to go again, please? I was just getting it!” Kícoatl laughs and rubs his head. Andrew’s already messy hair is standing in spikes now. I try not to laugh.
“And you have done well, but your mind and body need a five minute break, or they can quit on you. There are reasons the littles are not joining us. You are strong, yes, but you are still just above their level. What is it your Auntie Cara said?” He looks to me.
“Slow and steady win the race. Think of it like lifting weights. You just joined that. What happened to that guy who came in ignoring the trainers and went straight for the 250lb deadlift?” That’s a moment none of us will forget.
“He sh…” I raise my eyebrow at him. “He pooped himself.”
“And?”
“And he couldn’t move. His back ripped, and he went to the hospital.”
“Close enough. Do you want to poop yourself and tear your brain?”
“NO!” The poor kid looks terrified. It’s kind of cute. Don’t laugh, don’t laugh, don’t laugh.
“Then listen to your uncle. He won’t lead you astray.”
“Yes, Auntie.” He turns to Kícoatl “I’ll sit be her for my for my break. She looks funny today.”
“Gee, thanks, kid.” I mutter, making Kícoatl smile.
“Sounds good. Maybe you should think about what you just said wrong while you’re at it.”
“Okay.” He sits by me, stumped by what he could have said that was wrong. After a few minutes, I laugh.
“Need a hint?”
“Please.” He’s so exasperated, I can’t help but laugh!
“Sorry, you just looked so done with it.”
“Auntiiie.”
“Okay, okay. You said I looked funny. That can be hurtful, especially to a highly emotional preg-OW!” I grab my belly. “These Braxton-Hicks are terrible today.”
“Auntie, you peed yourself.” I look down, then to Kícoatl in fear. He calls out for help. People start running in. He scoops me up and runs toward the surgery room. He’s barking out to people as we go.
“Find Tavi!” Of course, the one time I tell him that he can go off with Zane and share fighting techniques, my water decides to break. I’m focused on the pain. I don’t even register someone changing me and cleaning me for surgery. It isn’t until the IV is put in that it registers.
“Sorry, Sissy. We need to get the blood and fluids going.” Amanda works diligently. Anela and Tammy wanted to help, but their bellies have become too big. They get to help with the babies, at least.
“I am here, Ti’kúe. I hurried.” I reach out to hold Tavi’s hand. His surgical mask looks funny. They aren’t made for people with tusks.
“We are putting a screen up. You can take the mask off Tavi.” Amanda pats his shoulder and quickly puts the block up. But I wanted to watch! She hangs a tablet so we can watch that way.
