“Run! Everybody, run! The vampires—they’ve attacked us!”
A woman in her thirties screamed, her voice slicing through the chaos. Her chest heaved as she stumbled into the village square, blood splattered across her tattered clothes.
“They’re killing our pups! Anyone who stands in their way—slaughtered!”
Gasps rippled through the crowd. An old lady clutched her shawl tighter, her lips trembling.
“Vampires? But… they’re forbidden here. There’s a border. A pact. They shouldn’t be able to enter…”
Her words trailed off, swallowed by a blood-curdling scream.
“Help us! Someone, please! They’re killing my husband—my children—please!”
Another woman’s desperate cry echoed through the small village, tangled with the chilling laughter of the vampires. It was a sound that didn’t belong in this world—low, cold, and merciless.
In the midst of the rising terror, a young girl stood still.
“Raha! What are you doing?! Move!”
Her mother grabbed her arm, panic written all over her face.
But Raha didn’t flinch. She stared into the woods, her wide eyes unblinking.
“Look, Mother…”
She pointed with her tiny hand toward the shadow-drenched forest.
Her mother turned.
And froze.
Her breath hitched.
A tall figure stood just beyond the trees—pale as death, cloaked in darkness, with glowing red eyes locked on them. Fangs protruded from his grin, dripping with blood.
Without another word, the woman scooped her daughter into her arms and bolted.
“Who is he, Mother? Why is he chasing us?” Raha’s voice quivered, confused and afraid.
“That’s a bad creature, my love. His kind—they’re evil. Never forget that.”
Her mother’s voice trembled as she ran faster, clutching Raha tightly.
“The ones with fangs are our enemy.”
But the vampire was faster.
In a blink, he appeared before them, blocking their path.
“Tch tch…”
His tongue clicked mockingly.
“A poor little wolf… trying to save her pup.”
His grin widened, eyes gleaming with hunger.
The woman lowered her daughter slowly, her body shielding Raha’s.
Her eyes flared with fury.
“Back off, bloodsucker. Or I swear, I’ll tear you apart.” The woman growled at the vampire.
The vampire threw his head back and laughed—a sound more terrifying than a scream.
The woman leaned down, whispering in Raha’s ear.
“My brave girl… you’re strong, right?”
Raha nodded, her tiny body trembling.
“Good. Listen to me. Run. Run to Aunt Suzy’s house. You remember the way?”
Another nod. A tear slid down Raha’s cheek.
“One more thing… no matter what, don’t look back. Do you understand? Never.”
She kissed her daughter’s forehead, then gently pushed her back.
“On three. Change form and run like the wind.”
The vampire tensed, ready to strike.
“One… two… three—RUN!”
The woman shifted—her body morphing into a majestic white wolf, fur shimmering in the moonlight.
Raha obeyed, transforming into a small but swift grey wolf pup and sprinting into the woods, her little paws pounding against the ground.
Behind Raha, the clash began.
“Did you really think you could save her?”
The vampire sneered and lunged.
The white wolf met him mid-air, snarling with unmatched ferocity.
