"What were you doing with those guys?"
Jimin's voice hit me the moment I stepped into the house.
"Who?" I asked casually, kicking off my shoes.
"The ones I told you to stay away from," he said, arms crossed, eyes burning with anger.
I walked to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water.
"They're nice, Jimin. So I befriended them. What's the big deal?"
"The big deal is that THEY ARE DANGEROUS!"
His voice rose, slicing through the air. My grip on the bottle tightened.
"I won't stop. They're my friends, and I'll hang out with them if I want to."
"What did you just say?" he shouted now, stepping closer.
"I said what you heard!" I snapped, slamming the fridge shut.
"You're crossing your line, woman!" he barked.
I laughed bitterly.
"Oh really? I'm crossing the line? You're the one starting fights over something so stupid. So what if I talk to them? Do they have horns on their heads? Are they monsters who'll eat me alive?"
"Of all people in that damn college, why them, Y/n?" His voice was a low growl now.
"Because I like their company!" I said firmly.
"They don't pretend. They don't fake smiles and whisper behind my back. They make me laugh. They treat me like I matter. That's more than I can say for most people!"
"You're blind," he hissed. "They're not what they seem. They're disguising themselves-manipulating you!"
I clenched my fists. My blood boiled hearing him talk about them like that.
"Really? Then tell me, Jimin. What exactly are they hiding? Enlighten me, since apparently, you see everything I can't."
He stepped forward, his voice dropping.
"They're vampires, Y/n. Our enemies. They don't belong with us."
I froze. But only for a second.
"So what?" I said quietly. "I'm a werewolf, and they never treated me differently. So why should I care if they're vampires?"
His eyes widened.
"You knew?"
I nodded.
His face twisted with disbelief.
"Did you forget how vampires killed our grandmother? How Aunt Raha still wakes up screaming? You think they're different?"
"Yes. I do."
My voice didn't shake.
"And how are you so sure?" he asked sharply.
I hesitated, then said,
"Because I felt it."
"You touched them?" Jimin asked, a flicker of hope in his eyes.
I lowered mine.
"No. I can't read them. Not unless they let me."
He burst out laughing. Cold and bitter.
"So you're seeing only what they want you to see? They're controlling you. You don't even realize it."
Then his voice dropped, heavy with finality.
"You're not going to meet them again. This is an order from your Alpha."
I stiffened. The air thickened with tension.
"But-"
"Enough!"
His shout shook the walls.
"Go to your room, Park Y/n. You know the consequences of disobedience."
Tears stung my eyes, but I refused to let them fall.
"Then hear this, Alpha or not-I won't talk to you. I won't even look at you."
My voice cracked, laced with fury and heartbreak.
