Hard Times

                            Osman's Residence
( Few months later and few days to Christmas Eve)
Maclean came to meet his father at the company and came across Victor.
Maclean:  Aren't you Anna's friend?
Victor:  Yes and you're her boyfriend I guess.
Maclean:  I didn't know you work here.
Victor:  I've been here for two years, I came here with Anna. We've always been together just as we still are. [ Maclean smirked ] Your dad even thought we had a thing going on until she cleared his doubts.
Maclean:  I know what you're trying to do but it won't work. I love Anna and she loves me.
Victor :  I doubt that because how can she love you and your father. [ he's surprised]
Maclean:  Watch it man, you won't succeed in separating us. [ he walked away]
               The Breeze
That night Anna and Maclean sat at the sea side and enjoyed the fresh sea breeze. Maclean was in deep thought.
Anna:  What are you thinking of?
Maclean:  You! [ she smiled] I met your friend today at my father's company. [ she turned to him ]
Anna:  Victor?
Maclean:  Yes and he confronted me. I just hate his guts. [ Anna laughed]
Anna:  His guts? Vicky is too shy and I don't think he can do that. He stammers because of how hard it is for him to talk to people.
Maclean:  He's not as you think, he wants to ruin us so he can have you. He even said you can't love when you loved my dad. [ she was astonished]
Anna:  Did he say that?
Maclean:  Yeah he only pretends to be innocent in front of you. [ Anna was hurt] Please love, he's not a friend and you know that. All he wants is you and he doesn't care ruining your image if he can't have you.
[ she just laid on his shoulders as he caressed her hair smoothly]
                       Jackson's Residence
He dropped her home, as they shared a kiss outside the house Reggie got there. It's like he's spying on them always. They parted.
Reggie:  Wow such a lovely couple.
Anna:  What do you want Reggie? Are you spying on us? [ he shook]
Reggie :  I'm here to meet Cephas. The fact that you cut friendship with me doesn't mean I'll do same. I'm not after you Bella, I'm happy that finally you found love. No matter how you much you hate me I'll still be your friend. Excuse me... [ he left without going to meet Cephas ]
Maclean:  I'm soo lucky, I got the prettiest girl in my life and she loves me regardless.
Anna:  I'm happy to have you as well. You stand by me regardless of what happens. Thank you love. [ he gathered her in his arms and kissed her forehead. She went inside]
Louisa:  You're back sissy, did Maclean drop you home? [ she nodded] Where's he?
Anna:  He left already. [ Mondy came out of her room, she had her laptop in hand]
Mondy:  You finally came back. I wanted to show you something, please check this for me.  [they sat down ] Will this colour be okay for the event?
Anna:  It's beautiful but I'm still wondering why you are so keen in organising the Christmas Eve at Lilies Resort. We can have a small get together here in our house.
Mondy:  No I want it to be beautiful and grand. Your boyfriend already gave us the place for the event.
Anna:  Do as you want, I'm soo tired can I go and sleep rest now?
Louisa:  A busy day huh!
Mondy:  She spends more time with her  boyfriend more than she does with us now.
Louisa:  We are now sharing her love with someone else. [ They laughed]
Anna:  You know what, good night! [ she went on to her room ]
                    Osman's Building
Victor knew what Anna was up to when  saw her the following morning at his workplace. They excused themselves to talk at the reception in other not to disturb anyone. Anna was really angry.
Victor:  Anna...
Anna:  You know what just keep shut! What wrong have I done to you? Why spread false news about me? Who are you?
Victor:  I'm still the Vicky you know.
Anna:  No this is a different person, I don't know you anymore. My Vicky would never destroy my image for his personal gain. You know what I'm done trying to be a friend to you because it seems you can never see me like that. From today this friendship is over, please stay away from me. [ As she turned to leave he drew her back and kissed her. She freed herself and slapped him really hard]
Victor:  You don't know much I hate you now. [ People around stared ]
Anna:  You're the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. [ she walked away]
               CHRISTMAS EVE( A week later )
          LILIES GRAND HALL
Anna and her family arrived at the big occasion at Lilies Resort Hotel. Mondy had Maclean organised this party. The place was very beautiful.
Anna:  Mondy you guys did a great job.
Mondy:  Apart from being a nurse I can also be a good designer.
Cephas:  Look at her... [ they all laughed. Maclean and Evelyn walked up to them ]
Evelyn:  Hello family [ they responded] You guys look amazing.
Louisa:  Thanks Miss Evie, you also look gorgeous as always.
Evelyn:  Thanks darling. [ Maclean's eyes were on Anna who pretended not to have seen him. She spotted Ethel and the Osman's. ]
Anna:  Excuse me everyone [ she went ahead to meet them. Mondy was confused]
Mondy:  Am I the only seeing this. This our lovely couples have a fight?
Maclean:  There's nothing like that, we spoke earlier and everything was fine.
   The Osman's were happy to see Anna after a long time.
Nancy:  You look beautiful Miss Anna.
Anna:  Thanks my baby.
Maxy:  We will visit you now, we're on vacation.
Anna:  I'll be glad to have you there darling, remember you still have a room there.[ Maclean arrived and held Anna by her waist. Everyone stared on, Ethel was confused]
Osman:  Is there something we need to know? [ Anna felt a little shy ]
Maclean:  Yes dad, you see this beautiful lady beside me. [ Ethel laughed] She's the love of my life.[ the kids rejoiced]
Kathy:  This must be a joke.
Ethel:  You despised her.
Anna:  I also did same Ethel.
Maclean:  But things changed when I fell in love with her beautiful smile. [ Mr. Osman was in disbelieve]
Osman:  The couples I never imagined. But anyways I'm happy for you both. Come here Anna. [ she went on to embrace him ]
      They sang Christmas carols, watched a drama and a dance performance. After that they had a whole dinner on a high table. As they chatted and ate Maclean received a video from an unknown person. It was a video of Anna and Victor kissing. Someone had taken a video of them. He grew furious, Anna sat two seats away from him. He stood up angrily.
Maclean:  Anna can we talk outside. [ she nodded and followed him outside]
Anna:  What's it you want to talk about [ with a smile on her face. He showed her the video . Her smile faded off ]
Maclean: Kissing your lover in public, you have no shame at all.
Anna:  It's not like how you see it love, he forced himself on me. [ he smirked]
Maclean:  How am I suppose to believe that. You told me you were just friends right? He's too shy to even talk. Each and every time you sided with him.
[ Anna cried bitterly] No no no Anna, you don't get to cry this time. [ he wiped his tears] You're such a cheat. [ she shook] Just leave my sight.
Anna:  You've got to believe me love. I only went there to warn him...
Maclean:  Just leave Anna! [ she was scared off, she turned away and left . He shed tears]
                 Jackson's Residence
The whole family got back home happily, Anna sat with tears. They rushed over to her.
Louisa:  Anna what happened?
Mondy:  You left without informing anyone. Maclean said it was an emergency, what happened?
Cephas:  I don't think it's time to question her. Let's make sure she's better then we can find out. [ Vicky called her phone severally but she didn't answer. Mondy consoled her till she slept ]
The following morning Anna didn't come out for breakfast. Mondy was very worried and went it to check on her. She just laid on the bed looking in the sky. Mondy crawled up the bed to her.
Mondy:  Sissy please tell me what is wrong. I've never seen you this worried before. And I know it's Maclean who did this to you.[ Anna sat up and smiled]
Anna: Its not his fault, I think I've been too quiet for long. But someone is forgetting who the real Annabella is. I don't entertain bitterness. [ Mondy smiled] I'll remember him if he's forgotten.
Mondy:  I can feel the presence of my long lost sister but please tell me what's going on.[ Anna narrated everything to her ] I can't believe this, Victor Coleman. I didn't know he was so obsessed with you.
Anna:  It hurts to see my best friend turn into such a monster. He's crossed his limits. [ Mondy burst into laughter shocking Anna] What's funny?
Mondy:  I can't believe you cried over such a small incidence. [ Anna mellowed]
Anna:  It hurts to see that the person you love doesn't trust you.
Mondy:  This is called hard times. Couples fight a lot because they love each other. You'll see that after you clear his thoughts , he would never doubt you again. Just understand how he feels. [ Anna nodded happily. Mondy took her in her arms ]
