Third POV:
Jennie leans against the train window, AirPods in, music drowning out everything else. Seoul flashes past in neon streaks, and for a moment, she lets herself forget the last year — her parents' messy divorce, her father's yelling.
She recently left New Zealand, her mother deciding that them moving in with Jennie's grandmother would provide more "support." Jennie can't stop the eye roll. Grandma isn't exactly supportive. She's the one who pushed her mother into marrying Jennie's father so young, ignoring every obvious red flag.
She's on her way to see her childhood best friends: Rosé, Irene, and Nayeon. They've been inseparable for years, Jennie visiting Australia to see Rosé and Irene while Nayeon spent her summers hopping between New Zealand and Australia.
The train slows and finally stops. Jennie gathers her things and steps onto the platform, the cold winter air biting at her cheeks. Rose's student Accom is just a short walk away, She weaves through the crowd of drunk teenagers, laughing, shouting, and staggering along like zombies.
At Rosé's door, she knocks loudly. A few moments pass, and all she can hear is muffled noises, shuffling, and what might be giggling.
Jennie's POV:
"Hurry up" I exhale " I'M FREEZING MY TITS OFF ".
"Welcome!!!" Rosé bursts open the front door, a huge bowl of popcorn in hand, half of it in her mouth and some scattered on the floor. "Popcorn, babe?" she grins, offering me a soggy handful.
I grimace "No, thanks,"
Behind Rosé, Irene emerges, a clay face mask cracking across her cheeks and her hair tied in a messy bun. "Stop standing in the doorway. You're letting all the heat out," she growls, tugging me inside.
"Jennie unnie! It's been too long! I missed youuu!" Nayeon shrieks
"Girl, your breath smells like beer. Have you been drinking?"
"Only a little," Nayeon shrugs,
As Nayeon laughs away, I notice two mysterious figures behind Rose's bedroom door. * That's strange, from my knowledge nobody else was invited.
This was supposed to be a " bestie girls'" night to commemorate our reuniting...
I shoot Rose a glare, my fox eyes squinting. Rose shivers and looks away shyly; she knows what that look means.
Everyone has always said that Jennie is very stubborn, and when she doesn't get her way, she can sometimes be a brat. Like on her 9th birthday when she received a Pomeranian instead of a Cocker Spaniel, and she refused to talk for the rest of the night.
"Erm, so I thought because you're new to Seoul and all, you might want to make more friends. Remember we were talking about this just the other day. So..." Rose quips.
Rose opens her bedroom door wide, "I'd like you to meet my good friend Jisoo, who might have brought her best friend Lisa," Rose says quietly, hoping I won't get mad.
I stare at these intruders in disbelief, of course, this had to happen...
I've had the same group of friends forever, I'm the type of person who likes to keep things to myself; I don't like change.
I continue to analyse the girls behind her. I've seen the familiar long black hair and soft-shaped face of Jisoo before; Rose has talked to her in the halls at Uni, but she's never actually come up to us and held a conversation. She gives shy vibes, and I have no time for people who can't talk.
