"Miss Kim." Knock, knock, knock.

"Miss Kim." Knock, knock.

"Yes, Henry?" I say as I swing open my door, answering my butler's incessant knocking.

"I received an email from your school informing you that you need to be in class by 12:30."I scrunch my face in confusion and fold my arms around my waist.

"Why? I don't plan on coming to school until I finish my assignment," I huff.

"Well, you'll have to find that out yourself, ma'am. It's 11:45, so you should be on your way.

"I'll prepare your breakfast," Henry says, smiling at me before turning around and making his way down the stairs.

"HHHHMMM," I groan, as I slam my door shut.

Why would the teacher make us come to school today? It's not mandatory, and I can't have her find out that I haven't spoken to Lisa or worked on the project since last week.

Honestly, this week has been a mess. After coming back from the movies with the gang, my grandma was waiting there to lecture me.

**Flashback**

I open the door to the house quietly, slowly putting my keys in the basket near the door and placing my handbag on the rack.

It's pitch black inside, so I feel around to find my way to the staircase.

—fLICK—

All of a sudden, my eyes squint as the bright light in the downstairs corridor turns on.I see three pairs of eyes staring at me: my mother, Kai's mother, and worst of all, my grandmother.

"Jennie, what time do you call this?"

"10:30—"

"Don't be sassy with me. It was a rhetorical question," my grandmother sternly shouts as she walks closer to me with her hands crossed. I instinctively stand up straight with my arms crossed.

"Go to bed, Jennie," my mother softly says from behind my grandmother, with a look of fear and guilt in her eyes.

"No, this is good. Now that Jennie's here, we can have our conversation, woman to woman," my grandmother says, unfolding her arms.

"Follow me to my office," she barks, turning away.

Everybody follows her down the long corridor until we reach her office.

My mother and Kai's mother take a seat opposite each other, leaving one for me between them. My grandmother goes to sit on what looks like a throne behind her desk.
