------------------------------------------------ Hour 1 ---------------------
The flight begins, and I finally settle into my seat, ready to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Just as I'm drifting off, I feel some stirring and moving around me. At first, it's light kicks to my arm, then some rolling over into my chair.
The groaning in my ear is the last straw. My eyes shoot open as I abruptly sit up, grumbling,
"What the fuck?"
I see Lisa's pale face and heavy eyes staring at me. "I'm going to the toilet," she announces, dizzily moving through the cabin before exiting our cubicle.
What's her problem? Is she scared of flights or something? She's been quiet since she got here. Maybe she's still guilty about what happened last week, but honestly, that's the least of my worries.
After a few minutes, the cubicle door opens, and Lisa returns to her seat. I start to yawn but quickly shut my mouth, realizing my breath must stink.
I'm going to go to the bathroom to freshen up.
----------------------------------------- Hour 2 --------------------------------------
Back in my seat, my stomach rumbles. Lisa has a Thai TV show on, "Girl from Nowhere." playing loudly in the background.
I press the button to call the flight attendant over. I've already finished the gimbap and crispy duck pancakes Henry packed, my mouth is salivating as I remember the savoury-sweet juicy duck. But I'm still hungry...
Lisa looks at me and remarks, "You're hungry" with a confused voice.
"Duh! If I pressed the button, I must be," I reply sarcastically. I'm a growing girl okay...
The food attendant arrives with a selection, and I choose a salmon poke bowl. When asked what she'd like, Lisa requests a simple sandwich. "A sandwich?" I think to myself, observing her plain chicken sandwich while I dig in, peering over at Lisa as she eats.
"Are you sure that's all you want?" I ask, unable to hide my curiosity.
Lisa nods, taking a small bite of her sandwich. "I'm not that hungry."
I shrug and focus on my food, savouring the flavours. "You're missing out," I say between bites, but Lisa just smiles faintly and continues watching her show.
As we eat, the hum of the plane and the soft chatter of other passengers provide a comforting background noise. I glance at the screen, mildly intrigued by the drama unfolding in the TV show Lisa is watching, a creepy school girl is currently beating someone bloody... Weird.
Once we're done eating, I feel a bit more relaxed. Maybe this flight won't be as bad as I thought.
