Chapter Sixteen: Epilogue

I ended up being escorted to the ambulance as they worked on bandaging my shoulder and stomach temporarily until they took me to the hospital. I watched as Dewey was wheeled by on a stretcher, giving me a thumbs up on the way. Gale followed him, looking distressed and I was surprised to see her alive after that wreck.

I then watched as they brought out three body bags, Tatum, Sidney, and her father. I was waiting for a fourth, Randy, but sat up straighter, seeing him come out with a medic behind him, a bandage on his right shoulder. He saw me and his eyes lit up.

I stood up as he came right to me, the both of us pulling each other into a hug, ignoring the pain. "Oh my God, Randy, I thought I'd lost you too," I cried, holding onto him tightly.

He chuckled, "I never thought I would be so happy to be a virgin."

I rolled my eyes, laughing a little as well. Leave it to Randy to make jokes when he almost died.

He looked over, seeing the body bags and then around us, "Where's Sid?"

I looked down sadly, "They killed her, and her father."

He looked at me in shock and sadness. He pulled me into him again, both of us crying over our departed friends.

We were taken to the hospital, our wounds fixed up. My mom was a worried mess, making sure the doctors and nurses knew it was her daughter they were stitching and that they better do a good job.

Sheriff Burke came in after a while to get my statement. He had already spoken to Dewey and Gale who didn't know who the killer was, under the impression it was Neil. Randy told them about Billy, so even though a part of me wanted to lie and say it was Neil who did it all, I couldn't.

So I told them the truth. Sort of. I left out the part about them saying they would be back for me. And where I went crazy and stabbed Sidney.

They seemed pleased enough with everything I had to say and after I was given some pain medication, I was free to go, my mom taking me home.

Now, I just need to wait for the boys to come back. They promised they would, and they will. At least I hope they do.
