Zebedee Glenn Mondragon
Ordeal
.
My brows furrowed as I read my mother's note. I scoffed and slightly smirked.
Yeah, I'm so sick of it. Dammit.
I unbutton my black suit and hang it on the dry rack. Then, I stride down the hallway to the spacious kitchen.
The lavish fridge, which was like a wall, seemed like nothing around the place, but with a single tap on the side, you could almost see what was inside.
"Damn, Morris," I mouthed and drank the sparkling water.
I don't know how to answer my mother this time. I refused to respond, and I knew she would never give up.
Hell, do I look like an old bachelor of all time?
I must be.
Four failed engagements and two long years of hiatus on women make me look like an old bachelor. I shook my head, imagining my mother's face.
It's a reaper. This is Morris's fault. This should be him and not me. Damn, him.
"Do I look like an old bachelor to you, big Mors?"
Kausap ko siya sa kabilang linya at komportable ang pagkakaupo ko sa malambot na sofa. Naka-on ang TV, pero walang audio ito. The lights around the house are dims, making it more appealing to my eyes.
"Not really, little Zebedee. You are a gentleman compared to me. I'm a rusty old fart. You know that." He laughed hard.
"Damn, you. When are you going back? I'm so sick of playing the good guy here, big Mors. I need a break," I scoffed, resting my head, and I am now staring at the raindrops LED lights on the side of the balcony. Ito lang yata ang agaw pansin rito sa condo na ito
"You know where I belong, Zebedee. You can't treat me as your older brother anymore because the head of the family kicked me already. . . You are the big brother now, little Zeb."
I sighed, listening to him. There's no point in arguing. When it comes to Morris, I simply don't argue with him. He knows better than I do, so he chose his own path.
"Hey, listen, Mors, Papa is not well enough to manage the foundation now, and I'm not interested in taking that position. Why don't you take it over, big Mors? You are capable of ruling the show. I know you can. You've got the guts, man."
"I may be capable, Zeb, but I no longer belong in that household. You better do what Mama wants you to do. I will help you."
I smirked. "Effing, no way, big Mors. I will not settle just because our father told us so. Now, I'm beginning to feel the pressure here, and I don't know how long will I play this game. If it's not only for our mother, I have given up being a Mondragon a long time ago."
