The journey through Mirkwood was nothing short of harrowing. The dense forest seemed to swallow us whole, its twisted paths and looming shadows testing our resolve at every turn. But with Elrond's guidance and the steadfast support of my companions, we pressed on, determined to reach the Starlight Festival in one piece.
After two long days of navigating the treacherous terrain, we finally emerged from the depths of Mirkwood and found ourselves standing before the grand gates of the Woodland Realm. My heart skipped a beat as I caught sight of King Thranduil and his son, Prince Legolas, waiting to greet us.I couldn't help but feel a surge of nervous energy as we approached them, knowing that their eyes would be upon me, the daughter of Elrond by bond, if not by blood.
"Welcome, my friends," King Thranduil said, his voice echoing through the forest. "I trust your journey through Mirkwood was not too arduous."
Elrond stepped forward, bowing respectfully. "Thank you, Thranduil. We are grateful for your hospitality."
Thranduil's gaze lingered on me for a moment, his eyes sharp and assessing. "And who might this be?" he asked, his tone curious.
Elrond stepped aside, gesturing for me to step forward. "This is Lily, my daughter," he announced proudly. "She has journeyed from distant lands to join us for the Starlight Festival."
Thranduil's expression hardened, his brows furrowing in anger. "Why is there a human in my realm?" he demanded, his voice sharp with displeasure. "And why do you present her to me as your daughter, Elrond?"
Elrond's demeanor remained calm, though I could sense the tension in the air. "Lily is not merely a human, Thranduil," he replied evenly. "She has proven herself to be a valuable member of my realm, and I stand by my decision to bring her with us."
Thranduil's gaze narrowed, but after a moment, he seemed to relent slightly. "Very well," he said begrudgingly. "But she must abide by our laws and customs while she is here. We cannot have outsiders causing trouble in the Woodland Realm."
Thranduil's words hung in the air, a tense silence settling over us as I met his gaze head-on. His reluctance to accept me grated against my pride, and a fire ignited within me, fueled by indignation and determination.
Without hesitation, I stepped forward, my hand instinctively reaching for the hilts of the swords at my side. In one swift motion, I drew them, the blades gleaming in the dappled sunlight as I held them aloft, their edges catching the light.
"Listen carefully, Thranduil," I said, my voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through my veins. "I may appear human, but I am so much more. I have knowledge of the future and skills in combat that rival even your finest elves. And unlike mortals, I do not age. Since my arrival in Middle-earth, not a single day has passed for me."
Thranduil's eyes widened in surprise, but I pressed on, my resolve unyielding. "I am not to be underestimated, Elvenking," I continued, stepping closer until the tip of my sword grazed his neck, a silent threat hanging in the air between us. "I am not merely a human. I am Lily, daughter of Elrond, and I demand to be treated with the respect and dignity that title entails."
For a moment, Thranduil said nothing, his expression unreadable as he processed my words. But then, to my surprise, a slow smile spread across his face.
"Very well, Lily," he said, his tone filled with amusement. "You have spirit, I'll give you that. You may keep your swords, but remember this: in the Woodland Realm, I am king, and my word is law. Cross me, and you will find yourself facing consequences you cannot imagine."
I nodded, a sense of satisfaction coursing through me as I sheathed my swords, the tension between us dissipating like mist in the morning sun. Thranduil may not have fully accepted me, but in that moment, I had proven that I was not to be underestimated.
Legolas Pov----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Thranduil and Lily exchanged tense words, I observed from a distance, my attention captured by the unusual display unfolding before me. It was not every day that someone dared to challenge my father, especially not in his own realm. And yet, there she stood, a mere mortal ( yet she described herself as an immortal but he was not sure.), her defiance sending a ripple of intrigue through the air.I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for her audacity. To threaten the Elvenking in his own halls took courage, or perhaps recklessness. Either way, it was a display of strength that demanded respect.
As the tension between Thranduil and Lily reached its peak, I found myself suppressing a smile at the amusement flickering across my father's face. He may not have appreciated being challenged, but there was no denying the entertainment value of the scene unfolding before us.
When the confrontation finally came to an end, and Thranduil begrudgingly allowed Lily to attend Starlight Festival, I stepped forward, unable to contain my curiosity any longer.
"Impressive," I said, my voice laced with genuine admiration as I approached Lily. "Not many would dare to challenge my father in such a manner."
Lily turned to face me, her eyes meeting mine with a mixture of defiance and determination. "I don't take kindly to being underestimated," she replied, her tone unapologetic.
I smiled, a flicker of amusement dancing in my eyes. "Nor should you," I agreed. "But be careful, Lily. My father may have relented today, but he does not take kindly to insubordination."
Lily's expression softened slightly, a hint of gratitude in her eyes. "I'll keep that in mind," she said, her voice tinged with respect.
With a nod, I gestured for Lily, Elrond, and his children to follow me as I led them to their chambers to prepare for the feast that awaited us. As we walked, I couldn't shake the feeling of intrigue that surrounded Lily. There was something about her, something that set her apart from the others, and I couldn't wait to learn more about the human girl who had dared to challenge the might of the Elvenking himself.
