The tension in the air was still palpable as the factions gathered in full force around the dilapidated resort, each faction eyeing the other warily as they busied themselves making makeshift camps.
Edward stood tall and defiant, his gaze fixed on me. Y/N, ever the mediator, stood beside him, trying to maintain a sense of calm.
As I looked around, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The fragile truce that had been established could easily shatter at any moment, leading to a bloodbath in the desert sands. And strangely, shooting Carus hadn't gone down well.
It was crucial to find a way to solidify the agreement and ensure that everyone involved had something to gain... I was playing a hand I didn't even have yet, but it was worth the gamble.
"Now, I understand that we all have our own goals and desires, and I can't make any promises about how this will go down," I began, addressing the group. "But remember, our common enemy is House, and that makes us almost family," I said with a broad smile.
Caesar's Praetorians exchanged glances, their eyes filled with skepticism. The Brotherhood knights, still in their formidable power armor, remained stoic but attentive.
"We need a united front," I started again. Edward scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain. "And what makes you think we should trust you?"
I held his gaze, unflinching. "Because we're running out of time. Y/N's father won't wait for us to settle our differences. He'll strike when we least expect it."
Knight Zeno, the Brotherhood's leader, stepped forward, his voice resonating with authority. "He's right. We need to remove any chance this prewar technology gets into the wrong hands."
Slowly, the tension between us began to ease. The Praetorians exchanged glances, their stoic expressions softening. Edward, though still skeptical, seemed willing to consider the possibility.
"Now, that right there is the closest thing we've had to an honest exchange so far," I said, winking at Y/N.
Y/N stepped forward, her voice filled with determination. "We need a plan. A coordinated attack on my father's stronghold in New Vegas. If we can hit him from all sides, we might have a chance."
"Oh, that certainly ain't gonna be the plan," I turned to face her taking her hand and leading her away.
It's not that it's not a good idea. We have the forces, but I'm planning on hitting her daddy where it hurts.
The group fell silent as they contemplated the weight of the task before them. The desert wind howled outside, a reminder of the harsh reality they faced.
Y/N and I had holed up in one of the rundown gift shops. We had a beautiful vista looking over the mountains and could see all the work that was required to keep large armies fed and watered. Y/N turned to me and said, "Why didn't you back me up with my plan?" She looked genuinely hurt.
