Chapter 14. New Faces

The entire volleyball squad went to a gastropub nearby to proclaim their victory. The group was eating and chatting when their friends from the opponent unit arrived.

Hi everyone! It was a close fight. Billie said while waving to the rest of the members.
I believe we can win against you next time. Alfea added.

The group knew Alfea and Billie, way back high school days. They used to play in one team, and now it feels strange playing against each other.

Hi Billie! I am pleased you came. Mikha stood from her seat and approached them.
I hope you do not mind. We invited a friend from school. Alfea stated. Meet Jazz everyone.

Hi Mikha! I am glad to see you. I am a fan. You are a monster in that court. Jazz cheered and held Mikhs hand for a handshake.

Hi Jazz! Thank you. Mikhs said while touching her nape. She led them to join at their table. Aya is staring at the interaction. She could not fathom why there was a slight pinch in her heart. She set it aside for Mikhs sake, instead she enjoys the rest of the night with her friends.

A week after, Alfea invited the group to attend to her parents' anniversary party.
Thank you for coming. Alfea welcomed them.

Thank you, too. Who would have said no to a free meal and drinks? Jho added. Colete jostled the latter.
You never change, Jho, witty as ever. Responded by an amused Alfea.

Where are your parents, so we can pay our respects and to give our gift? Alfea? Mikhs asked, glances at the other guest in the house.

They are busy entertaining other people who I am not familiar with, of course business community. The foodstuff is in the pool area. Help yourself. You know where to go, anyway. Alfea stated and left them.

So, let us eat. I am starving. Gwene dragged the group to the buffet section.
What is new, you are always hungry. Sheen responded, laughing, and the rest followed.

The group settled on one of the empty tables. They were all wearing casual dresses. A tall guy approached them and presented himself to the group.

Hi everybody. It is nice to see you here again, Mikhs, Colete and Gwene.

Hi Keiro. Where have you been? We have not seen you for ages. Mikhs pat his back. Meet our other friends from university. Sheen, Aya, Audrey and Maloi.

Not mighty four anymore, hmmm... 8 of you altogether like infinity. Keiro was teasing the group. Mikhs notices Keiro glances longer at Aya.

I love that. We have a name now "Infinity". Thanks, Kiero. Colete is chanting the new name.

Alfea came back with Billie and Jazz and joined the group. Jazz sits beside Mikha and started talking like a chatterbox. Mikhs could not keep up laughing with her jokes, and her friends faded into oblivion. Aya felt bothered by their interaction and her mood changed. An hour after, she excused herself from the rest of the group.

I will go ahead, guys. Thanks, Alfea for inviting us. Aya shuffling her move to hail for a cab.
It is still early, Aya, why rush? We do not have school tomorrow. Jho wondered.

I am not feeling so good, you know, monthly thing. You enjoy and I will see you Monday. Aya related as an excuse, stepping on her way out.

Come on, I will drive you home. It surprised Aya when Mikha appeared behind her.
