YEAR 4. Embarking to a last term in university is becoming tough for the group. Meeting schedules, balancing sports they love, and academics sucking them all up, especially the mighty four. Adding the upcoming UAAP to the list stresses Mikhs more than a team captain.
The regular gathering is often less because of their never-ending saga of deadlines, plus the fact their schedules of classes did not correlate to the group. But they saw each other at least once a month on a weekend.
Review nights for Aya and Mikhs are still happening. But Aya's focus is not within her lesson, but more so on answering her phone messages. However, she could not deny noticing Aya's face lit up every time she receives notifications. She would rather not admit the fact it affects her, but the constant beep gets into her heading.
Mikhs collected her stuff, and she was about to get up when Aya notices her. Are you done studying?
Yeah, I will move up now and rest. I must be up early anyway for morning practice. Goodnight. Mikhs responded.
OK, goodnight. Aya looks back at her phone, did not see the sadness on her roommate's face.
Mikhs reaches her room, shuts the door behind her, then releases the air she was holding in. Mikhs you can still survive, she whispered. She plumped on her bed, looking at the ceiling. Asking herself how she slipped and let things happen. Falling for a friend is not part of the deal and besides, she is straight.
Wake up, Mikaela Liem, whatever you are feeling will never happen. Stop and move on. She fell asleep thinking of her situation.
Aya got up to check on Mikhs. The past day, she notices the latter is always quiet. She wanted to ask what was troubling her roommate, but also knew she will tell her once she was ready. She moves closer to Mikhs looking so peaceful, covered her with a blanket and left.
Mikhs was aware when Aya walks in but pretended to be asleep. Aya, you are making it more difficult not to like you. She sighed turned on her side and tried to get back to sleep.
The next day, Mikhs emotions toiling her rouse all night and woke up with a languid demeanour. She headed for her morning practice with less enthusiasm. The mighty three noticed her lack of engagement affecting her performance at the court. Jho encourages Colete to speak to their friend, but they need to find time to corner Mikha what is bothering her.
Morning practice ended up early to give way for the rest of the members to get back to their respective classes. Contrary to Mikhs schedule, wherein it starts after lunch. She positioned herself lying down in a bleacher to catch some sleep when a powerful force landed on her head.
Ouch... Mikha sits up and started touching the affected part, seeing a ball rolling on the ground. She saw somebody rushing towards her. "I am so sorry. I did not mean to hurt you. Are you OK? Do I need to bring you to the clinic?"
No, I am fine. Just startled, I guess. Mikha removes her cap and massages her head.
Oh, it was you, the team leader of the volleyball team. By the way, my name is Vxon...Vxon Franz. Offering his palm for a handshake.
You are the Captain of the football squad. Mikha responded and shook his hand.
Again, I am so sorry. I hope I can make it up to you. Vxon said with sincerity in his voice.
Hmm.... I will hold on to that. You owe me one at the proper time. Mikhs was smiling.
This is the scenario Aya saw when she was looking for Mikhs. She brought some breakfast, knowing her roommate has an early morning practice. She could not find her at the gym, so she looked at her 2nd favourite spot, the field. But it has taken her back to see Mikhs with someone from a football team. She assumed the reason for her being quiet.
