As the tension between Emerson and Mitchell reaches a crescendo, the air crackles with the raw power of unleashed energy. Emerson, now a being of pure energy, stands triumphant, his eyes ablaze with victory.
Emerson's laughter echoed through the desolate cityscape, a sound as cold as the blue fire that danced at his fingertips. "You see, Mitchell," he said, his voice steady and sure, "it's not just about having power. It's about understanding it, wielding it with precision and purpose. And that's something you never grasped."
Mitchell, struggling to stand, could feel the last vestiges of his strength ebbing away. He had always been the hero, the one everyone looked up to. But now, faced with Emerson's overwhelming might, he felt small, insignificant.
"You thought you could use your powers to control, to dominate," Emerson continued, his form shimmering with energy. "But power is not a tool for oppression; it's a force for change, for evolution. And I have evolved beyond you, beyond anyone."
With a gesture, Emerson summoned a vortex of energy, a swirling maelstrom that pulled at the very fabric of reality. "I don't need to destroy you, Mitchell. You've already destroyed yourself with your arrogance and your fear. But I will reshape this world, starting with eradicating the poison you've spread."
Mitchell watched, helpless, as Emerson turned his gaze to the sky, the energy around him intensifying. "This is my world now," Emerson declared, "and I will be its architect. A new order begins today, one where energy doesn't just rule—it liberates, it empowers, it transcends."
And with those final words, Emerson unleashed a wave of energy that washed over everything, obliterating the old, and in its wake, the promise of something new began to take shape.
I looked over at Mitchell, who lied on the ground. Nearly dead, I kept drawing in heavy breaths. It hurt to use my ability excessively but at the same time felt very good.
I knelt down over to him and kept him alive with a small sap of energy, I felt angry at him for what he had done.....what he had done to even me.
Although I do have him to thank for pushing me to grow extremely powerful, a certain darkness crept over me.
I smiled as I heard Mitchell struggle to breath, knowing that he is now feeling so many others had faced when he distributed harmful enhancers.
"You broke my ability, I think it's only fair I do the same to you." I whisper. "Besides you won't be needing it."
I clench my hand into his arm and activate my powers, I disrupt the energy in his aura channels. Forcing them to run at an excessive energy level causing them to be unstable, eventually with the huge transfer of energy caused the aura to "break" and I rendered his ability useless.
With his ability broken, I wiped the sweat off my forehead and decided to allow fate to determine what happens to him next. I was sure to provide him with enough energy to barely survive but I was not sure if would continue to live or not.
I was not feeling merciful that night.
I decided I wouldn't be sympathetic to Jack either, because I know Jack also contributed to what Mitch did to me.
I'm not going to allow that to happen to anyone else, besides I'm sure I could not only replace Mitchell but also Jack in the Order.
- The Next Day, Wellston College -
I had a plan up my sleeve. I was going to destroy Jack in another way.
Jack not only knew about Mitchell's drug ring association but quietly helped him with anything Mitchell required. For example Jack did enchant a fellow to convince his whole friend group to buy a bulk of Mitchell's products, however this was before the booster became deadly and only boosted their abilities by a small margin.
Jack also blew off any concerns I had about my ability loss when a more advanced booster came out and Mitchell offered it to me as "a supplement to help ability growth"
However he continued to play the role of being my friend who actually cared and was rational. Boy what a convincing show.
It may have rendered my ability broken for a while, but that was a cake walk compared to others who received dire consequences.
I noticed Jack and his sister Belladonna had left the library on campus, now was the perfect time to execute my plan.
I had caught a rumor surfacing that Belladonna had a crush on me ( poor choice by the way, poor woman should have crushed on someone a bit more worthy ) I guess you could say that the King has a way of getting attention of rumors.
My plan involved heavily on exploiting this rumor, I thought of a way that could hurt Jack and destroy him.
He and his sister decided to sit down under a tree to study on the campus park, I used my ability to pump a small hint of energy into me. I was going to need all the courage I could get.
Besides, it's not like I was talking to a girl I actually liked.
"Hey! Jack, what's up!" I smiled as I approached the two.
"Oh..hey?" Jack said genuinely surprised. "Nothing much, just reading."
"Is this your sister?" I asked then turned to Belladonna. "Hi I'm Emerson, I feel like we haven't met." I gave her a charming look.
"H-hello." She blushed a bit. "I-Im Bella-adonna."
She has really bad taste.
"I saw you from across campus and I thought 'Wow Jack has a really beautiful sister' I felt like I should have introduced myself. You know?" I rubbed my forearm, trying really hard not to feel stupid.
By now Jack had caught on. "Um yep she's my sister alright, could you please-"
Disregarding Jack "Hey wait you know there's going to be a dance soon? I just realized that a lot of people had asked others out to it and I haven't really found anyone to go with me." I sighed.
"Oh, t-thats a s-shame." Belladonna looked away, looking like she was going to burst. It made wonder if she ever had a boyfriend in high school.
"Truly is," Jack didn't like how this was going "but you're the King, surely you could basically ask anyone else since you're the basically guy 1# here?" Jack tried to send a message.
"Hm you're right, it just no one here really pipes my interest." I then realized I didn't have a crush on any girl at college, which doesn't make sense because I probably would have had one by now.
"W-well u-um" Belladonna looked so flushed with emotion that I started to feel bad for her. Jack interrupted "Well good luck finding a da-"
"Actually that's what I came here for." I smiled again. "Belladonna I was wondering if you'd like to be my date for the dance this weekend?"
Belladonna froze and Jack looked like he was going to beat my ass.
"I uh I auh um" She kept stuttering, Jack gritted his teeth and began to stood up, but my eyes glowed amber and he felt a huge weight on him. I had imposed some form of energy weighing him down.
You are not foiling this Jack. I will fucking make sure my plan goes through.
"If you don't, I guess I can find someone else to-" I said in a disappointed tone.
"NO! No no I um" She continued "I-I will go with you!"
"Really?!" I made sure to light up my face. "Awesome! I can't wait. Thats all I wanted to know, I guess I will see you guys later then!" I noticed Jack trying his best not to explode on me.
I truly did feel bad that I was just playing with Belladonna just to hurt Jack, but I was hoping that eventually Belladonna will see me for what I actually am and just simply fall out of love. Besides I've heard there's a lot of ripped guys on the football team, she could check that out.
But that doesn't matter now, what matters now I need to execute this perfectly so I can destroy Jack.
