Miss Singh looked at Nick, she clearly was worried about the conversation they were about to have.
"Nick...its been brought to my attention that you and Harry had an altercation during practice the other day".
Nick sighed "Yea... um it was nothing severe honestly just Harry being Harry"
Miss Singh nervously placed her hands on the desk "Harry Green has been suspended from rugby for a minimum of 2 weeks as punishment"
Nick looked up... for some reason he was unnerved "Thank you Miss I appricia-"
"However... the school have raised some concerns about having a boy of your...situation playing on the rugby team" she added sadly
"Excuse me?!" Nick added angrily
"Nick...i want to make it clear that I do not at all support this decision. You were made captain for a reason, you are an intelligent young man who has the talent to pursue rugby beyond school... but the school board seems to veiw this differently" Miss Singh reluctantly admitted
Nick grunted "What do you mean differently"
"You will be suspended from rugby until a decision can be made of the safety of you playing on an all male team" Miss Singh said with a disgruntled look.
Nick was stunned, he was extremely angry and confused. He had trained for years... since being 5 years old rugby had been his life, his coping mechanism and his happy place but now it was being taken from him!
"This isn't fair!" Nick slammed his fist on the desk "I've trained for years and been completely safe and now because Harry makes one bad tackle they assess MY safety without speaking to me!"
Miss Singh looked up at Nick with nothing but sympathy in her eyes "Nick...if there was any way I could stop this I would but I have no control over what the school board do unfortunately"
Nick rolled his eyes "You realise people are going to wonder why I suddenly stop playing rugby and this could potentially out me to the whole school"
Miss Singh had tears in her eyes... it was barley noticeable but they were there "If you'd like I can say you've had an injury and will be out for a few months, I'm not saying you'll never be able to play again Nick"
Nick stood up angrily "No what I'd like is for the school board to fuck off, you can't take rugby away from me. As far as everyone is aware im a normal boy and it will stay that way even if the school board have to physically drag me off the pitch".
Before Miss Singh could even say anything Nick stormed out of the office with tears in his eyes, he wasnt used to people treating him differently due to him being trans because it wasn't obvious.
This caught Nick completely off guard and he was angry about it, he didn't know who to tell about it. His friends had only just found out about his identity and though they were supportive it still felt awkward because he hated talking about it to anyone, even Charlie.
Telling his mum was the first thing that came to mind but she would more than likely threaten legal action and due to David being home at the moment talking to his mum about anything to do with his transition was out of the question.
At the minute he was on his own which was also a new thing for the rugby boy.
He slowly began to walk to his class, he didn't know how he was going to cope with a full day of school after the news he'd just received.Thank you again for all the support you've been giving this story! I hope you are enjoying following Nick on his journey there will be more - Dan ❤️
