Nick sat down quietly for a few seconds with Charlie holding his hand in a comforting manner. The others looked concerned however their faces also had a visable confusion which was understandable considering how little they knew. Nick could feel his heart pounding, he didn't know what to do, telling people had always been his biggest fear and now he had to tell the people he cared about the most. Charlie squeezed his hand gently, Nick looked up with a small smile, however there was no happiness behind that smile, nothing but nerves and fear. Nick sighed "Uh... I should have probably told you this a while ago but I honestly hate telling anyone but um..." he paused, the others looked so confused already and he hadn't even told them "I'm trans". It seemed like the world stopped, everyone seemed taken back by this... almost as if it didn't seem possible for someone like Nick.
Tao was the first to speak up "So... like you want to be a girl or-"
"TAO" Charlie shouted "Considering how you feel about Elle you of all people should know that's rude".
Nick sighed "Urh no it's quite the opposite of that actually Tao... I was born a girl but...um I'm not a girl I'm a boy. I've been on testosterone for about a year now but I don't like people knowing because I want to be treated like a boy not like I'm different". Nick paused as he looked down at the carpet he was so scared of what the group would say suddenly everyone wrapped him in a warm embrace (Except Tao who was insistent that hugs weren't his thing). "We would never treat you any different" Tara said gently "We know how hard change can be and the fear of being treated differently is obviously valid but we wouldn't do that".
Darcy smiled "Tara's right Nick, we will always see you as the totally straight rugby lad".
The whole room erupted with laughter as Nick began to smile and feel happy again. Charlie hugged his boyfriend and kissed his cheek "I'm so proud of you".
Nick smiled "Thanks Char".
Nick pasued and suddenly realised that now people knew other people could find out... especially since Tao knew.
"Um guys I don't want this spoken about at school... like at all. No one else needs to know this" Nick said sternly.
Elle nodded "Yea Truham isn't the best place for people to be outed as trans believe me I know".
Nick sighed "Another reason why I never wanted anyone to know"
Aled looked up from his book "If it makes you feel better Nick none of us had any idea, you pass really well and it's pretty much impossible to tell you weren't born male".
Nick smiled "Thanks Aled that means a lot".
Darcy groaned "Ughhh I'm sleepy and we havent finished food can we get back to that".
Everyone laughed as they sat back on the floor and began to eat again. After about half an hour Darcy had fallen asleep in Tara's sleeping bag which made the others laugh uncontrollably leaving them lost in a fit of giggles. Eventually after the giggles wore off they all slowly fell asleep, Nick cuddled up next to Charlie and feeling safe and comforted he closed his eyes and drifted off to the land of his dreams.
