Charlie ran into the changing rooms and saw Nick sitting on the floor. "Nick?.. What just happened you're not usually..you don't usually get that mad." Charlie's voice was filled with concern as he looked down at Nick. The taller boy stood up and fixed his hair before grabbing his uniform "Bad day..thats it I'm just.. Im sorry Charlie" Nick sighed and walked into the cubical to change. Nick felt so dysphoric, his whole chest was hurting because of Harry's tackle and because of what Harry had said to him... was he acting like a girl? Nick tried everything in his power to act the opposite of feminine which sometimes annoyed people. Charlie sat on the bench and started to get changed "We can watch a movie tonight if you'd like... we don't have to revise if you're stressed" Charlie's voice was soft and gentle. Nick finished changing into his uniform and walked out of the cubical after tying his tie. "Y-Yea... I'd like that" Nick said slowly. Charlie looked down slowly before Nick took his hand gently "Char...im sorry you had to see me like that I-I'm sorry if I scared you"
Charlie stroked the back of Nicks hand gently "You didn't scare me, it's okay Nick I don't expect you to be in a good mood all the time".
Nick smiled and pulled the smaller boy into a hug. Charlie wrapped his arms around Nick gently "Ignore Harry, You already know he's an idiot" Charlie said sympathetically. Nick sighed and finished tying his tie (he had made sure to get changed before Charlie came to check in him) "I know he is it's just..-" all Nick felt was guilt. How could he explain the truth to Charlie without upsetting himself or worse upsetting Charlie but he also felt bad for hiding his secret from Charlie. He was so conflicted, before he met Charlie being perceived as male by everyone who met him felt amazing ; of course there were some awkward questions such as the changing rooms and why he never used urinals however they were bearable. Then Charlie came into his life...the curly haired boy who changed everything. The thought of lying to Charlie hurt him so much but the thought of being seen as anything other than a regular guy hurt even more. "Nick?..Nick..Nicholas!"
Nick snapped out of his thoughts "Oh um sorry what happened?"
Charlie looked at him confused "You zoned out for like.. a full minute. Are you okay?" Charlie took his hand gently.
Nick sighed and held Charlie's hand in his "Yea I'm okay..can I talk to you about something when we get back to your house though?".
Charlie tilted his head like a confused puppy "Yea okay? Come on if we want to leave before the other boys come back we better get going".
Nick nodded and grabbed his bag before walking out of the changing rooms with Charlie, he had to tell him, the only question was...how would Charlie respond? Nick didn't think he could handle the thought of Charlie hating him. They walked home in a mostly comfortable silence with Charlie breaking it every now and then to remind Nick that he had to revise for his GCSEs which made Nick chuckle. As they arrived at Charlie's they quickly said hello to Tori (and of course Ollie) before heading up to Charlie's bedroom.
Nick sat down on Charlie's bed before looking at Charlie with fear in his eyes "Charlie... I honestly don't know how to explain this or say it or how you're going to react but.." Nick paused with panic. He was really about to do this, Charlie sat down next to him looking at him both confused and concerned. Nick took a deep breath before closing his eyes.
" Charlie... I was..I was born female. I-I'm trans"Cliff hanger ain't I a stinker ❤️
