Nine and Rusty Rose's Adventure

Act 12: Liquid Zones

As Sonic and Rusty were traveling through the Shatterverse, they stumbled into a different rift. It turns out that the Prism could not only unlock universes, but the leftover residue from the energy of the shattered Prism could open up rifts into special zones that hold ties to Sonic's universe since it was shattered there in the beginning. However, it didn't mean that other universes could also be experiencing some similar, minor issues as well.

Sonic: "At this point I've lost track of time. Has it been days or weeks since this mission?"

Rusty: "Several hours and a few days from what I can calculate. Though space and time is a crazy mystery."

Rusty was looking at her HUD and noticed there was a prism shaped crystal. As she taps on it, a familiar static voice appears in her head.

Rusty: "Who's this?"

Sonic: "Everything ok in the Rust?"

Rusty straightens things out with the static, a spark of joy was shown on her face. It turns out that Nine's voice could be heard, much to her delight.

Rusty: "Nine, is that actually you?"

Sonic: "You can hear nine?"

Nine: "I'm glad I've reached two you guys. I was able to nab a piece of the prism and I can now telepathically communicate to Rusty thanks to it."

With Nine as their help, they were sure to handle things easily. However, as the three were enjoying this reunion, they were aware the trouble was awaiting them.

Nine: "Yeah no kidding. The Chaos Council have proven themselves to be highly incompetent when it comes to conquering other worlds. Sometimes I wonder how they are still in power."

Sonic: "Yeah, those Eggheads can be just like that."

Rusty: "I really like how we're at a water facility. Making things difficult for robots sent from Dr. Eggman."

Sonic: "Looks pretty good when you think about it!!"

Without warning, the wall behind them close instantly. As the two wondered what was happening, Eggman X was chuckling as he observed the monitors on his Egg Mobile.

Rusty: "Don't worry, Nine and I will navigate the way out."

Sonic: "Alright then. But let's make it quick okay."

Nine: "Sheesh, I know speed is your thing and all, but there's no need to be that hasty."

We the two arrived at a different room they can see a massive pool of water below the floors. As Rusty was looking around the place for other exits, she noticed Sonic was looking a bit shaken up and nervous. She then asks him what going on with him only to find out that the blue hedgehog can't swim.

Rusty: "How in New Yolk are you not able to swim when you have all that speed at your disposal?"

Sonic: "Eh, I guess water and I aren't that much of a good duo. Land is my go-to however."

Rusty: "Well you're very lucky I'm waterproof. Otherwise you would be in some serious problems right now."

As the two were ready to move, the path from which they had entered the room was closed off trapping them in this new room. As they wondered what to do next, Eggman X began laughing through a speaker.

Eggman X: "You weak minded fools thought this would be easy for you. Well newsflash, I was ten steps ahead you two and had already gotten another piece of the prism. So  as I was about to leave I decided to have some fun leading you into this room which I modified into a massive trap!"
