Jason

"She's a gem, ain't she?" He asked slurring through his words. "Yeah, she is." I replied back. "So tell me more about this Avery girl." He said looking amused. "What's there to tell?" I asked while releasing the smoke out of my mouth. "I want to know who Avery Samuels is, common Jason. Tell me!" He said while punching my arm playfully. "Well she's 17." I started off, "She's into old music really. She's, unique." I said putting the cigarette in my mouth. "That's all your gonna tell me?" He asked, I took the cigarette out. "What do you want me to say? That my girlfriend killed someone?" I asked and sat back gently in my seat. "Ah ha, so there was more to the story." He said while smiling and grinning a bit. "How good of a killer do you consider she is?" He asked. "Not the type that would kill again so don't bother." I replied. "Does she know what you did in New York, Jason?" He asked as he looked over at me. I was looking out the window and crush the cigarette to put the fire out and then dropped it. "No." I replied. "Are you gonna tell her?" He asked. "It depends, do I want her alive or not." I added. "Would you risk your life for her sake?" He asked. "I would." I replied and looked at him. "That's a bad scar you have there son, Jesse hasn't been around lately right?" He asked. "No, dad." I responded hesitantly as my phone vibrated.

I sighed. "What's wrong?" He asked taking a sip of his Hennessy. "Nothing, I just need to go by Avery's school real quick. That's all." I said while locking my phone so he wouldn't see my text message. "Jason, you can't lie to me-" "Now what the hell is going on?" He asked. "Jesse's back." I replied. "I thought that kid left ages ago?" He asked worryingly. "Yeah, well he didn't." I said sarcastically as I slammed my hands on the car wheel. "What about Avery?" He asked, "What about Avery." I repeated. "Isn't Jesse going to do the same thing he did to Sara-" He asked as I interrupted him. "No, Ralph. He's not going to do the same thing to Avery. I already lost one girlfriend to Jesse, I'm not losing another." I replied. "In order for that to happen you know what you have to do right?" He asked as I motioned my head from looking out the window to observing what he was saying. "You have to end it with Avery, Jason." My eyes opened wider, "So Jesse can move in on her like he did to Sarah?" I asked aggressively. "I'm not breaking up with Avery, I can't." I replied. He smirked, "Since when do you have a soft spot." He asked, "Since I've been with Avery. No one or nothing is coming between us again, I'll deal with Jesse." I replied as I started the car engine. "I have to pick Avery up from school, you wanna come with me or stay here?" I asked. "I'll come with you, besides I wanna meet her." He said while playfully hitting my shoulder. I chuckled a bit and bit my lip as I took off heading to Avery's school.

Avery

It's 3:53 PM. It's cold, and wet. I'm sitting patiently on the steps waiting for Jason to pull up. "It's a bit slippery for you to be on the stairs, isn't it?" Someone said as I turned back, of course it was Luke. The raindrops starting falling down from the rooftop onto my head. I stayed quiet, "Do you have a ride home?" He asked volunteeringly. "Yes, I do. It's fine Luke, you can leave." I replied. "Your not worried about your hair getting wet?" He asked. "I'll think of something." I replied and looked away. He sat down next to me, "Look, Avery-" he said when a black 1968 Dodge Charger pulled up. I heard a beep and got up from sitting on the steps, "I'm assuming that's Jason." Luke asked, I nodded. "You assumed right." I said while running to wards the car as he lowered the window down. I chuckled, "I didn't know you had company." I said. "Yeah, sorry about that, Get in." He said as he unlocked the door and I hopped into the back as he drove off.

"So your the famous Avery, Jason's been talking about." The man sitting the passenger seat said. "Avery, this is my foster father; Ralph." Jason said as I breathed heavily on the window and began drawing on it. "It's nice to meet you." I replied as I saw him looking into the mirror back at me. "You don't seem like most girls, Avery." Ralph said while chuckling a bit. "I don't wanna be like most girls." I said when he parked at the corner of my block. "Alright." Jason said putting the car into park. I took off my seat belt confusingly and moved up towards Jason's seat. "You said you wanted to talk to me about something?" I whispered. "Oh yeah, that." He said drifting off on his last word as he looked at Ralph. "Avery, I'm not staying here. You know that already, after the whole Skylar thing." He said, I nodded "Ok, I knew that already. " I said a bit depressed. "But that's not the reason I came. I'm in a bit of trouble, and it can effect you and in order to protect you, I can't-" he said and then stopped, "Can't what?- Be with me?" I asked. He stayed quiet, "What the hell did you do in New York, Jason?" I asked aggressively. He remained silent. "Listen sweetie, if you want we can-" Ralph said when I interrupted him. "No, it's fine. Thanks for the ride home." I said while slamming the door. "Avery!" Jason screamed but I ignored him. I kept walking and got the keys out of my pocket when I felt a warm air on the back of my neck. I turned around slowly, it was this guy with blonde messy hair and blue gray-ish eyes. "You must be Avery." He said, I panicked a little. "Who, who-are you?" I asked. "I'm Jesse, nice to meet you." He said while flashing his teeth and saying "I'm new in town, mind showing me around?"
