"Ah, your back." I said coming down the stairs as Avery walked through the door as she turned back to lock it. "Yeah, I just went to the park for a while. Why what's wrong?" She asked a bit unease. "Nothing. You're all packed for tomorrow, right?" I asked as I walked to the fridge to grab a beer. "Yes dad." She replied. "Good, now wanna tell me why the Sonclare's were at the funeral yesterday." I added. "I don't know." She replied. "If your hiding something-", "What's there to hide? I don't know anything about them coming, I didn't invite them." She snapped. "Is anyone out to get you?" I asked looking over at her as she grabbed a chip bag from the cabinet. "At the moment, no." She muttered and closed the cabinet. "At the moment?" I asked being concerned. "Dad. I don't know who invited them if that's what your asking, okay?" She said walking away heading towards the stairs. "Avery-", "I need to sleep, if I'm catching the bus early tomorrow morning to Phoenix." She replied and ran up the stairs as I sighed. "What was that about?" Marcia asked walking down the stairs and sat on the barstool. "I was asking her about the Sonclare's." I replied. "Didn't turn out so well did it." She said laughing. "It could've been worse." I added. "There's lasagna in the fridge, if your looking for it." Marcia replied. "Actually, I was." I said as I opened the fridge and looked again. "So, Avery's going to visit your mother. That should be fun, right?" I added. "I hope so. Avery's changed over the years, let's just hope things go well." She replied. "What could go wrong?" I said grabbing the lasagna out the fridge. "Your right, I'm worrying for nothing." She added.

"Why did you want to meet me?" I asked as Daniel walked closer to me. "I wanted to talk about Skylar." He replied. "A simple phone call would've-", "What do you know about Skylar and Jeremy?" He asked. "Nothing much, why?" I asked curiously. "She called the other day asking about him, it seemed weird how she cared about someone she killed and called us to ask about it." He replied. "Skylar is full of surprises, instead of asking me, why don't you ask her yourself?" I asked. "If that was the case, I wouldn't have called you down here for that. I need to ask you something else." He added. "Of course you do." I replied as I placed my hands in my pocket. "Did you know Jesse was back?" He added. "No, I didn't." I replied. "Well Luke saw him with Avery, I just thought I should tell you." He added. "Why would I care what Avery and J-", "I saw you two in the park, if you think your gonna keep her a secret, it's not working well. If you want to protect her, leave her alone." He added. "I'll protect her." I snapped. "Both of you in the game isn't protecting. She isn't ready for the game." He added. "Just because you weren't ready doesn't mean she isn't." I added. "When you walk away, the game will be in play. There's no pause button or rewind, there's no going back, Jason." He added. "Let the games begin, Daniel." I said as I unlocked my car door and went inside.

Avery

I grabbed my bag and moved it off my bed and placed it on the floor next to my door as I took my shoes off and walked into the bathroom. I looked into the mirror as I placed my hair into a bun. I took my contacts off and placed them inside my case and then walked out and back into my room. I changed my clothes and placed on my oversized, Mink Pink

Tres Farshion Tee. "Avery, you still up?" My mother asked as she knocked on my door and opened it. "I'm going to bed now." I replied. "Alright, I'll just see you in the morning then. Good night." She added and kissed me on the forehead and then left the room and closed the door shut. I walked over to my bed and started to think about what Jesse told me. The game, Was it worth it all worth it? I walked over to my bed and laid down as I reached over for my lap and turned it off. A new day was a head of me, I made a decision, one that could change my life tremendously.

Skylar

"They say grief occurs in five stages. First there's denial, followed by anger. Then comes bargaining, depression, and acceptance. But grief is a merciless master. Just when you think you're free, you realize you never stood a chance."

- Revenge

~*~

I've never felt like this,

it's different.

The grief and guilt.

They say grief doesn't

change you, it reveals you.

Today it revealed the real

Skylar Sonclare.

Why am I doing this you ask?

All my life, I felt as if my life has been

a lie. Having it better than everyone else when my family always kept secrets from me. My life depended on others for their on sake, I pretended to be dead to see where it would get them. Turns out it, it got them farther then I thought. People died along the way but I had no intention. Our family has many secrets, secrets I could never tell, but those who died well, they knew the secret. The had to die, one way or another, right?

"Skylar, are you coming?"

"Give me a minute." I replied as I slowly closed my old jewelry box and hid it and placed a locker inside my pocket. "You ready?" He asked coming inside the room. "I'm ready." I replied softly and walked out the room and closed the door shut. Let the games, begin.
