Kate's P.O.V

--------------------------------------

Oh no.

No no no.

He used protection....didn't he?

I can't be pregnant. I'm not pregnant. I'm just sick.

.......right?

I snuggled further into bed, closing my eyes and try to block out that nagging feeling in the back of my mind.

...

I rubbed my eyes, sitting up in bed and squinting at the daylight. I had slept soundly all day and all night.

I yawned, and immediately bent over the small trash can I was clutching to all night and hurled.

I spit, disgusted. I slowly stood up, eager to get away from the horrid odor. My clothes were peeled off as I texted Allie, then hopping in the shower to rinse the stink off.

Meet today instead of tomorrow? Need to talk. Kate

------------------------------------------

I took a deep breath and sighed, leaning against the shower wall as I lathered my body with soap. Closing my eyes, I massaged some shampoo into my hair, then rinsed it out.

Hearing my phone buzz, the water was shut off and I began drying myself, reading the text.

I threw on some black yoga pants and an old hoodie, not bothering to do my makeup.

...

I pushed open the door, breathing in the heavenly smell and stepping into the warm building.

I ordered a caramel macchiato and found Allie sitting in an empty booth. I slid into the seat opposite of her. I took a sip of coffee, my tense posture relaxing as it trickled down my throat, warming my entire body.

"You look awful." She smiled gently."What's wrong?"

I sighed, silent for a moment.

"Okay...you know Monday night, when we went clubbing?"

"We went clubbing, you sat alone pouting all night." She said jokingly, taking a sip of her drink.

"Anyway...", I looked around the room, not sure what to say. "I might have hooked up with this guy, and he might not have used protection,-"

"Oh my god!" She sat up eagerly, her eyes widening with excitement.

".....and I might be pregnant."

"Oh my god..." She said in a serious tone, leaning forward. "Are you sure?"

"No." I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. "But I've been puking nonstop, I almost passed out, and I slept a whole day."

She slowly nodded her head, pushing her long blonde hair behind her ear. My face pinched up, tears threatening to spill down my cheeks at any moment. Neither of us said anything.

Finally she broke the silence. "Kate, you have to take the test, you know that right? I mean, you need to know for sure! For the health of your baby! Goodness Kate you shouldn't be drinking coffee! Don't you know that? It's not good for th-"

"Are you kidding me!? Allie, I...I can't keep it..."

"Oh...you mean...you...you want an abor-"

"I don't know! I don't know okay? I don't even know if I'm pregnant!"

"Well you need to know! Just take the stupid test!"

"I CAN'T!" I screamed in frustration Several customers turned to look my way, causing me to stoop lower in my seat.

"I just can't." I repeated quietly, calming down. I sighed, sitting back.

Allie stayed quiet for a moment. She brushed her hair out of her face once more, staring out the window, then turning her attention back to me. "Why?" She asked softly, tilting her head slightly.

There were a million reasons why.

"Because I'm scared." My voice cracked. "If I take the test, and I am pregnant..." I paused, my eyes watering. "....all of this becomes real. I don't know the first thing about being a mom. I'm only 19 Allie! I don't even have a job! How will I pay for it?!"

A single tear slid down my cheek.

"The thought of a human being inside my stomach....terrifies me." I softly touched my stomach under the table. "That's why I can't take the test".

Allie sighed, her face full of concern. "But you have to. Eventually you have to."

"I know."

I pushed my coffee aside, suddenly losing my appetite.

"I'm just gonna wait a week. What if I'm just being paranoid? Maybe I just have the flu" I said, trying to convince myself.
