52: New Career?

It's been three months since Gale was born and Lesley was experiencing postpartum depression. As per the doctor's diagnosis, it's a good thing that it was only mild because she had a very good support system. Her grandparents, adoptive parents, Harley, and Fred.

Harley had to transfer schools for the current academic year because no one would take care of him if he went back home and enrolled for another school year. They had their trusted people work on Harley's papers and 

Lesley never got tired of taking care of Gale. She and her adoptive mother take turns putting Gale to sleep, preparing formula milk, and even baths. Lesley was indeed thankful that her family temporarily left their life behind back at Land of Dawn just to be with her and her child.

But even though she's doing well as a first-time mom, she still feels depressed with the thought of being a single mother, which she talks about openly with her adoptive mother at times. Mom, am I in the wrong for doing this? Did I make the wrong decision to keep Gale from the Paxleys?

What made you think of that?

I just feel guilty keeping Gale away from the Paxleys, not informing them about her existence, but I'm also afraid that Gale has Paxley abilities, and if they find out, they will take her away from me. If that happens, I swear it'll be a blood bath.

Watch your words, Ley. I think it won't come to that. Gale is also their flesh and blood. Their own. God knows what kind of abilities she has, if she's also good at guns like you, or if she's a magical one. We'll never know until such time her abilities show itself.

For now, focus on taking good care of her, focus on nurturing her, focus on raising her well. Until such time you're ready to introduce Gale to the Paxleys.

After 2 months, the military opened its doors for recruitment. Lesley was indeed back on track. She gained back her body figure before conceiving Gale, but even better. 

She arrived at the headquarters together with her ID's and documents to submit her application. She also underwent physical tests, emotional intelligence, knowledge, endurance, and combat tests. The officers were pretty impressed by her intellectual skills and abilities.

 However, after reviewing her files, the officer in charge talked to her privately. Miss Stellaris, your credentials and abilities are pretty good. However, I regret to inform you, that even though you passed everything, there are a couple of problems.
