"Umm... I think they are scared of you." Minho said. That was absolute nonsense.

"That makes no sense." Alaynah countered.

"You just pointed a fricking gun to someone's head." Minho stated. Newt nodded.

Thomas saw a curtain, and there was a shadow of someone lying on a bed. He quickly opened the curtains and Teresa lay there.

"Dear Minho, would you like the gun?" Alaynah happily asked. She shouldn't have looked happy under these circumstances, but sure.

Minho smirked. "Yes. I would love the honour." Alaynah gave him the gun, and he started to point at all the W.C.K.D employees. "GET DOWN! I SWEAR TO GOD GET DOWN!"

Alaynah nearly laughed. Nearly. Then, out of the window, she saw the guards coming.

Newt started tying up the workers' hands with bandages.

"The guards are coming!" Frypan and Alaynah shouted at the same time. They looked at each other.

"Jinx," They both said, "Double jinx... not fair."

"Frypan, Laynah, out of the way!" Newt shouted as he came with a table and placed it in front of the door. Teresa had gotten up, and she now stood next to Alaynah.

"Get back! Get back!" Minho said, slightly pushing everyone behind him to the most furthest corner of the wall from the door. Protective Papa Min-Min was here.

The door slightly opened because of the guards, but since the table was in front of the door, they were having trouble opening it fully.

Alaynah stuck out a face towards them.

Minho pointed the gin towards the doors, who shouted unaudible words. "We gotta get out of here!" Minho shouted. "Where do we go?"

Alaynah looked at the chair, and so did Thomas. They then looked at a massive wi dow, which, if broken, would allow them access to another room to escape the guards from. "Everyone, stand back!" He exclaimed.

He grabbed the chair and swung it at the window. Newt also grabbed a chair, and they both swung at the window  again. The window broke.

"Let the child go first!" Alaynah shouted unseriously.

Thomas nodded. "Chuck, come forward."

Chuck came forward first and went out the window, but not before Teresa pit a cloth over the glass on the windowsill.

"Come on, come on!"

Thomas also got through,  then it was Teresa's turn, who Thomas helped and half carried. He then put her down.

New also got through, then helped Alaynah. Minho threw the gun at Thomas, then also got past the window.

Alaynah felt her hands stinging. She looked down and saw some blood on it. Glass shards pierced her shaking fingers and wrists.

"Are you okay?" Newt asked. His hands seemed okay. Everyone's hands seemed okay. Except for Alaynah's. She had to admit that she was a clutz.

"Yes."

"Let's go!" Thomas shouted. "Stay behind me."

He opened the door to reveal a guard, and they had a second of awkward silence until Thomas shot him. Unlucky. The guard had electricity crackling around him.

"Better luck next time, muchacho!" Alaynah shouted.

The gladers surged forward.

"Guys, just so you know, Janson will probably be coming to where we are going! He's not dumb. Not when it doesn't come to girls. Like, he doesn't even have a girlfriend, and he's like 80 years old. I hope he finds his special one." Alaynah said sarcastically while they were running towards a big door. "Oh! There's our exit! Great! Also bad, because Janson is here."

Thomas tried to ipenthe door with his key card, but it wasn't working. Alaynah should have known this would happen. It's not like anyone would die, though, so it didn't really matter.

Janson and his guards came.

Thomas shouted at Janson. "Open the door! Open the damn door!"

"Hoover dam. Dam restroom." Alaynah muttered.

Thomas was pointing the gun at Janson, who was smirking. "Ypu really don't want me to open the door."

"Yes, we do! What else are we asking?" Alaynah shouted.

"You wouldn't last a day in the scorch! Thomas, you have to believe me." Janson said, edging a little closer. "I only want what's better for you!"

"Yeah, let me guess. W.I.C.K.E.D. is good?"

"Yeah! W.I.C.K.E.D. is wicked!" Alaynah shouted.

Janson lost his smile. That was a good thing. "You are not getting out of that door, Thomas."

The door opened. Aris, Winston, and Jeff were on the other side. "What did you say, Janson? I can't hear you, b*tch." Alaynah shouted. They all ran through the door, all except Thomas.

"Thomas! Come on, let's go!"

Alaynah looked at everyone. None of them seemed to be scared, except for Chuck. "Chuck, you okay?"

"Yeah," Chuck tried for a smile. Alaynah returned the smile. Their was a weird feeling in her stomach, as if something bad was about to happen, even though she knew Thomas would make it.

Thomas started to shoot with his launcher, and the guards started shooting. Weird, that didn't happen in the movies or books. Maybe this was a bad thing.

Just then, Chuck looked towards Thomas, then looked like he was about to do something.

"Chuck? CHUCK!" Chuck started running twords Thomas while Alaynah also tried to run towards him,  but someone grabbed her. She looked back. It was Minho. "Let me go! Chuck is in danger! Let me go." Her voice trembled.

She struggled on Minhos' grip while a bullet stormed towards Chuck, who barely dodged it. Alaynah sighed in relief, still struggling against Minho's strong grip.

Chuck went in front of Thomas, trying to protect him from the bullets coming towards their way. Thomas had now run out of bullets. The two started running towards the gladers, Chuck just behind Thomas. Alaynah wanted to tell Thomas to get out of the way so she could see Chuck getting to safety. However, she couldn't force the words out of her mouth.

"Shut the main vault door!" Janson shouted. The door immediately started closing. Alaynah hoped Chuck would make it.

One of the gunshots was louder than all of them. Alaynah tried to get a look behind Thomas. Her heart was beating. She could only hear one pair of running footsteps. Thomas was running, not looking behind.

Alaynah saw Chuck.

There was a bullet lodged into his head, and crimson blood oozed out of it. Chuck. Shot in the head. Dead. Gone forever. Thomas knew there was nothing to save Chuck, so he left him behind. There were tears in his eyes.

Alaynah, however, still shouted at Minho to let her go, while tears rushed down her face as fast as Thomas running.

Thomas barely made it in time before the door closed. He slid in one second before it closed. Then it shut. The door shut closed, and Chuck was left there. Left in W.C.K.Ds hands. Not to be buried. Not to have a goodbye.

He was dead, and Alaynah had failed to save him miserably, and it was all her fault. She had a feeling there would be many deaths that would be her fault. She made a vow to protect Chuck. She failed.

Aris smacked the place where you could swipe the key card so that the door wouldn't open.

Newt, Jeff, and Teresa all had tears in their eyes.

Alaynah stopped struggling, not bothering to wipe the tears off her face, and fell back. Minho held her up, then, surprisingly, hugged her. It made her feel a bit grateful.

"We have to get out of here now," he said.

Someone grabbed a pistol from a body.

Everyone started running towards the exit door. There was a lever on it, which Thomas opened, and it showed the night sky and sand.

The gladers ran out, free of W.I.C.K.E.D, a messed up government who took away kids' lives.
