Alaynah dreamt of spiders eating off her face. She could imagine someone saying, "Sweet dream."

She woke up in a cold sweat and found herself lying down by herself on the sand. Amara and Leila must have woken up before her. This theory was right, since when Alaynah got up, she saw Amara pacing back and then saw Leila on the floor.

Leila looked horrible. Whatever nightmare Alaynah had been experiencing, this was way worse. Black veins bulged out of Leila's skin, her was in shambles, and she looked like she had gone mad.

Alaynah stood up. "We have to go... now. Also, did you knock out Leila?"

"I knocked her out for her own good. Also, why do we have to go now?" Amara asked. Her voice sounded raspy and strained, as if she had stayed all night and hadn't eaten anything.

"Lightning will strike today. At night." Alaynah had forgotten that before, but it had occurred to her now.

"Oh. So we should go right now then."

"Yeah. Quickly. Hopefully, Leila doesn't go past the gone, so we can get her safely." Alaynah said.

"Okay. Okay, okay." Amara looked down at the floor while still pacing, probably trying to calm herself from all the possibilities they could face. "Let's drag my sister. That might work."

Alaynah grabbed one of Leila's arms lightly, and so did Amara.

They both picked up their bags and carried her. "We'll have food after this, okay?"

"Okay," replied Alaynah.

One hour later, Leila had stirred, her eyes opening.

Alaynah, out of shock, dropped her arm, and so did Amara. Leila was limp, so she lay there.

"Does she have weapons?" Alaynah asked.

"No... I hope not," answered Amara.

"She's going to get up any seco -" Alaynah said, while she heard a hiss noise.

Leila was getting up, and now, she was going crazy. She walked to the bags of necessary equipment and lit them up. Alaynah was too scared of having to touch fire and stonp on it to stop it, so she didnt bother saving the equipment.

Leila then ran straight for the closest person to her. Alaynah.

Amara let out a sob of horror as Leila jumped on Alaynah. Alaynah fought against her, but Leila, being a crank, had more strength than her. Alaynah wasn't in any shape to fight anyway because of all of her injuries.

Amara tried to grab Leila, who was too busy searching Alaynah for something. She took it out. It was a lighter.

"Leila... snap out of it," Amara pleaded.

"I can't... I'm trying. I don't... I don't want to d-..." Leila struggled, trying to control herself. She couldn't. However, as she turned on the lighter and put it close to Alaynahs face just enough to make it burn a little.

Amara pushed Leila to the floor. "Don't worry, I'll restrain you. Alaynah, do you have something useful?"

Alaynah reached into one of her toolbelt's biggest pockets, and there was the pillowcase rope from before in W.C.K.D. "Tie her down with this..." Alaynah turned her head up.

Leila set Amara's hair on fire. Amra began to scream. She struggled against Leila's grasp.

Alaynah was left with the weight of responsibility. There were tears in her eyes, as she didn't know what to do. She quickly grabbed a knife and ran over to them, and in one swift move chopped off the burnt parts of Amara's once beautiful, straight, long hair. It was now short, reaching up to her neck.

Leila snatched the knife out of Alaynah's hands and then stabbed it at Amara's eye. It was a wet, sickening stab.

Alaynah quickly covered her face with her hands, and when she looked back, the view was horrifying.

Amara had a knife in her eye, lying down at the floor, her other eye not blinking. She was dead.

Leila seemed to have come to her senses. She had splatters of blood on her eyes. She let put a guttural, blood-curdling scream. Alaynah noted the fact that she was only 10 or 11.

Before Alaynah could react, Leila brought the knife up to her head, then brought it down and stabbed herself. In the heart.

Alaynah ran up to her and held her, them let out a sob. She cradled Leila, closed her eyes, then walked up to Amara, and did the same.

She felt like cursing everyone. She couldn't stop crying. Finally, Alaynah stood up, feeling so useless. She had failed them miserably.

She had blood on her hands and face. Amara's blood. Leila's blood.

She walked away from the scene. She'd never seen anything as gory as that, nor anything as scary, so it would scar her for the rest of her life.
