Alaynah was tired. She was tired of searching for the gladers. It had been 3 hours or something since they had searched, and none of them could go back since they couldn't track their house after walking so long.
"We should've made a map, goddammit." Amara muttered.
"Yes, we should've."
"We'll have do to some of it without them." Alaynah spoke up.
"Okay, then. Where do we go first?"
"Brenda and Jorge."
"Who?" Amara asked.
"They are a little famous in W.I.C.K.E.D." Alaynah lied, not trying to seem suspicious.
"Great. Any idea where that is?"
"Uhh... no." Alaynah said. "Actually, kind of. We walk through mountains."
"People. In the mountains. Mountain people." Amara said, like it didn't make sense.
"That's what he said." Muttered Alaynah.
The three girls started climbing up sandy slopes, and unlike the gladers, they slipped in the sand. A lot. Alaynah then realised something.
Winston. Winston would die without her. She would lose him. Maybe Jeff was also in danger. Maybe he was already dead. That thought made Alaynah stop for a moment. Should she find the gladers first? Maybe they didn't leave her yet. Maybe they were finding her.
"Are you okay?" Amara asked. "What's wrong -?"
Just then, a loud noise was made. Alaynah should've been smarter - it was W.I.C.K.E.D. One of their bergs. They hadn't given up on finding them.
"Hide!" Alaynah shouted. "Quick!"
The three looked around. There wasn't anywhere to hide. They were on top of a hill. A deserted sand slope.
"Run downwards!" Leila shouted. Amara was grabbing Leila and running towards the ground to hide. Alaynah also ran, tripping on the way once. She was the slowest because of her waist pain. She didn't even know how she hadn't passed out.
However, W.C.K.D.'s berg was already over them. Alaynah continued running, and so did the other two.
The berg stopped for a second. 5 seconds. 10. It then started to descend. 5 seconds later, it stopped, as if trying to see they were being delusional for seeing soem teenagers out in the scorch.
"They know we're here!" Alaynah shouted. "Run further!"
The three finally reached the ground, and Alaynah saw Amara dragging Leila into a building. Alaynah followed them.

5 minutes later, they decided to get out of there. Luckily, there was no ship, so they were safe for now.
"I'm really regretting this." Amara muttered. She was still clutching on to Leila, as if anything might grab her and harm her. Alaynah noted that she was very protective of Leila.
"Don't worry, you won't." Alaynah assured (mostly herself), putting a hand on Amara's shoulder. Her hand stinged, so she immediately took it off.
"Are you okay, Alaynah?" Leila asked.
"Yeah. Yes, I'm okay."
"Show me your hand." Amra demanded. She was scary... It's really scary. And hot. She was definitely hot.
"Okay." Alaynah held out her hand to Amara, who inspected it. It still had some pieces of glass in it and was still a little burnt. Leila also leaned in to see it.
"Why haven't you done anything about it?" Amara asked.
"Injuries don't hurt me, I hurt injuries," Alaynah proudly stated.
Amara rolled her eyes. "You still should've done something. Leila, hold this for a second, please." Amara handed Leila some bags but not before taking out a piece of clothing. She ripped some of the clothing into 2 pieces, then wrapped it around Alaynah's hands.
"Thanks. I'll let the injuries know they're in danger."
"What's next? Do you have names for your injuries?" Amara asked.
"Yes, actually. I named my burn mark Bob. Then there's one glass cut, and I named him Newt. There's another one named Thomas. Then there's Minho. My nastiest one is named Gally. We don't like nasty people. Then there's a cut I'm not sure if I like or not, so I named it Teresa."
"Did you make those names up along the way? Or did you name them before Amara asked you this question? Also, the question was sarcastic." Leila said.
"Yeah, I made the names up on the spot. I don't really have names for them... Well, now I do have names for them. I hope the injury called Newt doesn't die. Especially not after 250 hours."
"Let's continue with what we were doing?" Amara asked, then let go of Leila and started walking up the hill again.
"So, if you had a job, what job would it be?" Alaynah asked, trying to make up conversations while they walked up the sandy bumps.
"Uhh... I would be an architect. I really like looking at the structures of buildings." Amara said, then frowned. "Weird though, I've never seen a blueprint in my whole life, yet I want to be an architect."
"I want to be a therapist." Leila answered. Alaynah understood that. Leila was very trustworthy. "What do you aspire to be?"
"The word 'aspire' should be too complicated for a ten year old, but not for you. Also, I would like to be not dead." Alaynah answered.

Thomas and his group found their way to their normal spot where Teresa and Winston would be.
The unfolding scene in front of Thomas was horrific. Teresa was sitting alone by herself, tears in her eyes, and there was something wrapped up in cloth in front of her. It took 5 seconds for Thomas to realise it was Winston. His dead body.
"He... I... He asked me... to... He said he wasn't going to make it and that he didn't want to become one of those scary human-like things, so he asked me for the gun, then he... he shot himself," Teresa explained.
